I advise anyone whose mortgage is sold to Litton Loan Servicing to attempt to refinance as soon as they are able. Apparently, Litton is purchasing mortages from many banks and many of them may be sub-prime loans.
My experience has been the worst of any lender or creditor that I have ever been involved with over 30 years. They are debt collectors and treat you like such and not mortgage holders, per se. However, when it comes time for them to return your money they are very difficult to deal with. I attempted to get a payoff from them and they dragged their feet and made getting a payoff letter as difficult as they could. Litton almost had to be forced to get the payoff letter to the closing table after nearly a month. They collected a late payment and interest for stalling.
Now that it is time to reimburse me the overpayment that they required which must be paid in 30 days according to RESPA, they are still dragging their feet. It has been 35 days and I have still not received a check but if you do not pay your mortgage on the first, Litton calls you every day until they receive the funds despite your grace period.
Currently, I am trying to help a person who is in foreclosure save their home. They are a single dad caring for five kids. To my dismay, his mortgage has been sold to LItton. I have tried for over a week with the co-operation of his entire family to get someone in Litton to give me his payoff amount. I have not gotten a live person and no one has returned my call.
Mortgage brokers and individuals that I have spoken with who have ever had any dealings with Litton all feel that it is a despicable company. It should be stopped from ruining little peoples lives who are unsophisticated and fall prey to their unscrupulous practices.

The loan was in my father and brother's name, and they both passed away. My brother had filed Chapter 13 in June, 2006 to protect the home from foreclosure. For the past three years I have paid the mortgage and bankruptcy payments until Litton found some new charges to add to the plan. These caused the bankruptcy payment to double, and I could no longer afford to pay it. The bankruptcy was dismissed in Jan., 2009. At that point Litton refused to accept payments on the mortgage and the property went into foreclosure. I have been working with a counselor from the U.S. Housing Authority all this time. Litton consistently lost documents that had been faxed to them, Kept asking for third party authorization letters from my dead father. They told us repeatedly that they were looking at our request and that it would take 30-45 days. They then started eviction proceedings, and mailed notices to a non existent address. Sheriff's notices were also mailed to the same non existent address. The property had been sold in March, but the notices of sale went to....you guessed it....a non existent address. The first notice I had that I was being evicted was when the Sheriff showed up at my door with lockout orders. Litton ordered the eviction on June, 26, and the lockout order was dated July 14. However we received a letter from them dated July 15 stating that they acknowledged that I was the owner of the estate and that they were still looking at my request for a loan modification. I have tried to talk with a laywer, but have been told that it would cost $250.00 just to talk to one with no guarantee that they would take my case. If they did take it, they wanted $1500.00-$2500.00 up front. Then I was told by Legal Services that I don't meet their financial requirements. So, now I am being forced from my home of 10 years, and my family home of 30 years. What is so frustrating is that I have made the payments on time for three years, and am able and willing to continue making them. I don't know why Litton wants my small family home so badly, but they apparently do. I think their dishonest treatment of homeowners should be investigated to the fullest, and that they should have their licenses revoked.
