I purchased two glass tables from Europebynet. They are located in England. I received the first table with a broken shelf. Since the delivery people were there, and had unpacked the table, they were witness to the broken shelf. DHL then sent an appraiser, who took pictures of the broken shelf and verified the packing. I received a letter from DHL date 2/8/05 that they would not honor the claim because DHL in Italy did not release the funds. After I received the 2nd glass table, DHL sent me a customs bill saying I was responsible for a $ 100 custom fee. I spoke with the vendor as to why I had to pay a fee on this table when I didn't have to pay a fee on the other table. The vendor did not know why DHL charged me for one table and not the other. I called DHL customs, because the price of the table had been overinflated by almost 30%. The lady name ginny told me that they could charge anything they wanted and that if they wanted they could say the table was worth 10,000 dollars and I would have to pay customs on that. She was however going to do me a favor and charge the fee according to what the retail price was. DHL damaged merchandise, refused to honor the claim, also charged me customs on another table from the same order. DHL implied that I was responsible for everything, and they had no culpability. I had better tow the line or they would increase the charge on customs and if I refused to pay the fees that they wanted to charge me they would then turn it over to collections. I asked the vendor to reimburse me for these fees. The vendor has refused and apparently is not replacing the damaged material. The total amount involved is approximately 3000 dollars. I have e-mailed documentation, the bill from DHL and the letter stating they were not going to honor the claim because their subsidiary would not sign a release. I also have the telephone numbers of the DHL customs. I asked the vendor to e-mail me their status or position on the damage claim and also reference the customs charge. The vendor has not complied. Because the vendor is in europe, I am limited. My funds are limited. DHL claimed legal extortion and the vendor has left me hanging. Thank you,

DHL Customs

DHL has sent me a bill for $20 for costoms fees for glasses I ordered from some company. I did not know the company was overseas. I told DHL I did not have any contract with them and they should not have paid the customs fee, but sence they did they need to collect it from the company that hired them to do the delivery. I think its just a scam!

I told DHL I did not have any contract with them and I am not paying. I paid the other company for the shipping cost!

DHL said it was going to colections.

DHL SUCKS!
