Kohler Toilet K-4627 High Pressure Flush Kohler Toilet K-4627 High Pressure Flush
I moved into my present home in Glenside, PA in May of 2004. One of the things that impressed me about the home was that all the plumbing fixtures were Kohler Products. I thought that Kohler Products were top of the line only to discover that Kohler only stands behind their products for the limited one year warranty. Saturday morning about 3:00 A.M. I heard a loud bang coming from the bathroom. When I went in the bathroom to investigate I noticed the toilet lid was displaced and water was running out of the tank. I lifted the lid and found that the pressure tank in the Kohler K-4627 had come apart at the seams. I turned the water off and cleaned up. This is the only toilet in my house so I had to replace the toilet on an emergency basis for my own use and because I was hosting a Super Bowl party the next day. I replaced it with another similar one- peace Kohler Toilet because the bathroom design was with Kohler products in mind. I contacted Kohler by E-Mail to notify them of my experience and asked if there were any recalls or similar problems reported to them and if I could receive any credit toward the replacement toilet I bought which cost $538.00 plus tax. I replaced the toilet myself, so there was no labor cost involved. If this would have happened when I was away from home it would have been a major catastrophe. In the E-Mail confirmation I was advised that I would receive a response within 2 working days.
I did not receive a response for a week, so I called the customer service number today only to receive a response that the toilet was discontinued 7 years ago and that the toilet only had a one year warranty, so Kohler was not responsible. I asked if there were any recalls or if any other complaints were received and I was advised that I was the only one. With that response I went out and bought a lottery ticket thinking that If my toilet was the only one that exploded from the millions of toilets that were sold, than I stand a good chance at hitting the lottery. If you have a Kohler toilet make sure you replace it every year or pay the consequence.
