I recently purchased 3 Hampton Bay Flush Mount Lights ( SKU 287-081) for my home. They are antique brass and match my ceiling light in the dining room very nicely.
However, they have changed the way this light is mounted to the electric box in the ceiling. You have to use 2 mounting screws to attach the mounting strap to the electric box, then after attaching the wires, align the light fixture with the 2 mounting screws. The problem is the holes in the light fixture do not line up with the mounting screws. As a result I have been able to only get 1 mounting screw to hold the light fixture.
With other light fixtures I have installed in the past, the long nipple which holds the globe also is fastened directly to the mounting strap. The light fixture can then be aligned with the long nipple and held in place with a nut. This results is a much easier installation.
I purchased these lights from Home Depot which sells to do-it-yourselfers. I believe it is in the best interest of all to design these lights for the easiest installation possible. Thank You.
Sincerely,
