Circuit City Credit Card

Hi, I just thought you would like to hear about a NIGHTMARE I had dealing with a Circuit City credit card for a client (I am an attorney). My client recently moved out of state. She told me that she changed her mailing address with all of her card companies. She purchased a Christmas present on her Circuit City Credit Card for about $60. At

the store they asked her if she wished to "upgrade" to a Rewards card. She said she would like to and gave her new address. She had no previous balance on the card as she paid her account off. Next month, they never changed her address and sent her bill to her old address which was obviously forwarded to her new address. By the time the bill made its way to her it was already a day or two late. She contacted customer service several times and they REFUSED to waive the late fee. They stated that changing the address in-store to receive the new Rewards card was not sufficient to change the address at the bank and that she never called to change it with them (contrary to what my client stated). She told me she spoke to several supervisors, each of which was more ruse than the next and that they refused to waive a $30 late fee on a $60 bill. She came to me and I honestly believed she wasn't telling the truth (having also recently moved, I had several late fees under the same circumstances and EVERY bank waived the late fee). I spoke to NUMEROUS customer service reps, supervisors, managers, and even the corporate offices of FNANB and Circuit City. Each person was more rude and nasty than the next. Being a lawyer, I am used to people being nasty, but I never expected the treatment that I received. I then filed a complaint with the BBB of Atlanta (FNANB's headquarters are located there). FNANB waited until the last possible moment to respond and then claimed they couldn't locate my client's account because I didn't provide her home address and telephone number, EVEN THOUGH I PROVIDED HER FNANB ACCOUNT NUMBER on the complaint!!! I was so fed up on this personal crusade that I finally told her to pay the bill off in full and close the account and to NEVER EVER do business with either Circuit City or FNANB again. She did so and

following all of this Circuit City then sent her a final bill, AGAIN TO HER OLD ADDRESS. I am dumbfounded that Circuit City would chose to put their credit cards in the hands of such a sorry company that has the nerve to claim "customer satisfaction is their number 1 priority." If the bank needs the $30 late fees so much so as to alienate a good customer, I suggest that they must be in pretty bad financial condition. My suggestion: do not shop Circuit City and cut up any credit card from FNANB or BankOne. I'm thinking of filing a lawsuit against them for the $30 late fee. I figure if they need it that bad and they have to pay an attorney $$$ to defend these claims maybe they will stop screwing the "little people." Complain, complain, complain, even though FNANB and Circuit City could care less. Tom C
