I am writing to complain about Wachovia Bank. I have had an account with this same location for seven years. From 2002 until April of 2003 I did not use checks with the account. We would go to the bank on payday and take out the money that was deposited into our account. In April of 2003 I was sent to Iraq for 15 months and while I was gone my husband got a check visa card from Wachovia so that he could have access to my pay that was being deposited every two weeks. It worked out great, so when I came home we decided that I would also get a check card. From June of 2004 until three weeks ago we continued to use just the check cards. We did not have but a few problems until a little after the beginning of this year. All of a sudden every time I turned around I was overdrawing my account. We signed up for Wachovia on-line and thought that this would take care of the problem. I thought it was my fault when it still continued. I would check the balance in my account in the morning and at night to make sure that I knew exactly what I had in the account before I purchased something. At first when the problems started I thought it was because I was using the card sometimes ac a credit card so I stopped doing that and only used it as a debit. I thought that this way I could not possibly overdraw my account. Wrong again!

When I first started overdrawing the account I would call them and ask why it was happening and since I did not have Wachovia on-line I would just believe whatever they told me. when I started using Wachovia on-line and started seeing unavailable funds fees of 120.00 before they even paid the draft that caused the overdraft and then 30.00 overdraft fees after every check after I realized something was seriously wrong. I finally went to the bank a few days after payday when I made a purchase at staples and had 148.00 available, but the next morning I was -390.00 in the whole. I realized that an automatic withdrawal for 200.oo that I had meant to stop came in. I explained to her that by my balance I should have only been charged 60.00 and wanted to know why this was happening. She explained to me that when a debit comes in and causes the account to overdraw that they charge 30 for each debit that is on check card hold. I asked her why when the check card holds were already taken away from my posted balance could they charge me for them. they had come in before the 200.00. When I left she had me thinking it was still my fault. I decided to order checks and not use my card unless I had to. Still a mistake.

I was searching on line to find out if anyone else was having a problem similar to mine. After a month of searching I finally hit gold. I just printed out all the complaints similar to mine and I am going to the bank tomorrow after I go to the Newspaper and TV Stations. This bank owes me over 1000.00 and I will get my money back.

Let me take that back. They have screwed me out of hundreds of dollars since I emailed you, now I feel like such a dumb---. I'm about to get a lump sum of money and I'll be damned if they are going to get any of this money and I'm closing my account with them now. Sorry for not believing you.

It sounds like to me that you are spending money that isn't there yet. You know, write a check because you will be depositing money the next day, Doesn't work to well does it? This comment was to the person who was having trouble with the bank. Me, myself like this bank. I do all my banking with them.
