2003 PT Cruiser

2003 PT Cruiser 2003 PT Cruiser August 29, 2005 Main Street Auto Group in Cartersville Ga. On 3-14-03 I purchased a 2003 PT Cruiser from Main Street Dodge. When I purchased the car I purchased the Extended Warranty and the Gap Insurance coverage and have the paper work on both. In March of 2005 I went into Main Street and looked at the new PT Cruisers and spoke with a salesman about trading in my 2003 model. At this time I was told by the salesman "I was $7,000.00 upside down on my car". They would be glad to take the trade in but my payments were out the roof. He told me that "I must have owed too much on the car I traded in on the 2003 car". He also advised me "if I had gap insurance I would be better off to total the car". At that time I advised him that I had not traded in a vehicle at all, this was a straight purchase and the price they had sold me the car for which tells me they charged me WAY too much for that vehicle. Needless to say I told them to keep their 2005 Cruiser. I asked him if they overcharged me that much on the 2003 why would I want to buy another vehicle from them. On 8-1-05 I did trade the 2003 Cruiser in on a 2005 Ford Truck. On 8-2-05 I went into Main Street Dodge and signed the paper to cancel the extended warranty and gap insurance coverage. At this time I was told I would have a prorated refund for both with 4-6 weeks by the financial manager. On 8-23-05 I called Easy Care which both were supposed to be through to check on my refunds. I was told they have not received a cancellation yet from Main Street on the extended warranty and was also told I they did not have a gap policy on my vehicle at all. I advised Easy Care that I had been charged $500.00 for this and had the paper work as well as the loan agreement to reflect this. They checked and double checked but never found any gap coverage sent in by Main Street Dodge. I then called the financial manager at Main Street Dodge back and informed him of what they had said. I advised him that I had paid $500 for something I never had and if they never purchased the coverage I believed I was due a full refund of my $500.00 from them. He told me no, Main Street would not pay me the refund. I then advised him if I had to I would take the case to small claims court to be reimbursed. He told me then to do what I had to do and hung up. As far as their service department goes. On the 3rd month I owned the 2003 Cruiser my engine light came on, I took the car in to have this repaired. Less than 2 weeks later the light was back on. This was an every month occurrence for the entire time I owned this car. In the little over 2 years I had this car it was in their shop 15 times or more for this same problem every time the same results. I would pick up the car and less than 2 weeks later the light was back on. One time when I took in the car for service I was advised I owed them a bill for around $75.00. When I asked why I was informed that when they checked the brakes that one of the lug nuts were stripped and they had to cut if off and replace it. At that time I advised them if the nut was stripped it was done by their company. My car had never been anywhere else for anything. They removed this charge. My experience with this company was the absolute worse I have ever had with anyone. My advise to anyone in the market to purchase a new Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep product is to leave Cartersville to do so. The people at our dealership here are only out to rip you off and are never there after your purchase to assist you. If you have purchased a vehicle from them and "THINK" you have Gap coverage call the Easy Care provider and verify this. It will be too late if you wreck you vehicle. I am just glad I didn't take THEIR SALESMAN'S advise and total my car!
