August 29, 2005 Target Store in Aliso Viejo, CA. I received a Poloroid Portable DVD Player as a gift for my birthday in July. The gift is defective and

confirmed by Poloroid to be defective. I have the receipt from Target but to find out that the receipt

has expired. I took the item adn the receipt to Target to see if a exception can be made since I did

not recieve the gift it till two days before the receipt expired. I had called Target to talk to someone who can make a decision. I talked to a woman, Maylan, who had called up the Aliso Viejo store to set up a exception for me. I was told by Maylan that that store was going to give $169 credit towards the

eletronic department. I was met by a very rude and aggressive manager, named Mike, who would not help out with my problem. He told me that Target Corportaion works for him and that he makes all the decisions. That he was not going to allow me to make the exchange. I never received a "hello", a "thank you", a "sorry i cant help you out". I am a retail manager and if I were to EVER speak to someone like i was talked to by Mike, I would have been fired. I then called Maylan back at corporate and was told that if he doesnt want to do the return he doesnt have too. That at that point, there was nothing i could have done. That my parents purchased a defective product from Target and they will not allow a defective return with a expired receipt. I believe it is completely un-ethical to ask a loved one not to purchase a gift when they want to buy it just in case that it might be defective, so that it could be within the 90-day. I will never shop Target again, I will go to Wal-Mart for all my purchases now. Thank you,
