OnStar Subscription renewal without permission

OnStar Subscription renewal without permission OnStar Subscription renewal without permission August 29, 2005 In February 2004, my husband and I took delivery of our (it is in both our names) new 2004 Chevy Suburban. It came with one year of Onstar free of charge. The first week we had it, I called Onstar from the truck using the button to get a phone number of the vehicle. They asked my name and I provided it and they gave me the number. In April of 2004, I was called by a representative from Onstar asking if I would like to purchase minutes for our phone in the car. I was happy to, and gave the guy my ATM/DEBIT MasterCard number. We used the phone in our truck frequently but never needed to purchase more minutes. In January, my husband and I discussed how we didn't need the Onstar since we each have cell phones and we have AAA. We decided not to renew our subscription. This is where it gets interesting. In March of 2005, I noticed on my February 2005 MasterCard statement a billing from Onstar for 16.95. I called, explained that we didn't renew it and asked how they could charge my card without authorization. They told me that the person that I bought the minutes from SHOULD have told me that my number would be kept on file for future billing. But, never at anytime was I told this by that person! Then, to make matters worse, I told them we wanted to cancel and for them to credit my account back but the lady informed me that I was not on the Onstar account! HELLO!? I was the one that bought the frickin minutes for the phone in the truck, AND I was the one to call and get the phone number for it! They told me that they needed my HUSBAND to call and cancel! I informed them that I'm the second name on the pink slip on our truck. They said that it didn't matter. Well, it is now August of 2005 and they are STILL billing me $16.95 a month even though it has been cancelled. This practice is illegal. AOL got in a lot of trouble for that crap and I was someone to contact me so that we can get a class action lawsuit against Onstar for this illegal billing practice of theirs. Any lawyers willing to take this on? I'm in Orange County, California. Please contact me. I'm going to be canceling my credit card today to stop the billing. I've had it with these people.
