Broadbandoffers.com / rebate

August 29, 2005

In April I helped my 81-year-old mother-in-law get a new Comcast high-speed account through Broadbandoffers.com. Their mailing address is: P.O. Box 8251 Wixom, MI 48393-8251 The offer involved three rebates: $20 from Motorola for the cable modem, $50 from Comcast for the new account, and $69.95 from Broadbandoffers.com for the combined purchase. I filled out all the forms, cut out the required UPC labels, copied all the invoices, etc., and sent everything on April 20, well before the 60-day deadline. Since my mother-in-law was paying for everything and was named on the contract, I put her name on the rebate forms for reimbursement. On August 22, I checked the status of the rebates and saw that two of the three had been paid, but the Broadbandoffers.com rebate had not. I submitted a form on their website to ask why. Two days later I got a reply stating that they had not received an entire copy of the first Comcast bill for internet service, and for this promotion I was not allowed to resubmit information. On reviewing the copies I'd kept of all the material I sent, I saw that I had photocopied the three small pages of the Comcast bill onto a single sheet of paper, overlapping some blank areas of the pages but showing everything printed on the bill. I wrote back and asked whether that was the problem, or whether anything else had been left out. Here is the reply: Thank you for contacting Broadbandoffers.com. We apologize, but the guidelines of this rebate require: that you submit all the pages from your Comcast high speed internet bill, and because we didn’t receive this in your first submission and the guidelines of the offer will not allow me to qualify you for this rebate. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you participate in future offer. Thank you and have a wonderful day. I replied saying I felt I had submitted all the pages, and asked for the matter to be brought to the attention of a manager. Here's the reply: Thank you for contacting Broadbandoffers.com. Unfortunately, the guidelines for this offer will not allow us to consider this rebate for qualification. Please feel free to contact us at 888-898-9934. We wish you success in your future rebate attempts. Have a nice day. I called the number and asked (after listening to a lengthy recording) to speak to a supervisor. The woman I spoke with had the same name as one of my e-mail correspondents, and after reviewing my file, she repeated the same thing she had written: We didn't receive the required material and you cannot resubmit material for this rebate. She added that they had sent an e-mail in April asking me to resubmit the bill; but of course, that would have been sent to my mother-in-law, who may or may not have seen it. (She was bravely trying to learn how to use a new computer and e-mail, which is why I was handling the set-up details.) When I persisted in asking to speak to a supervisor, I was politely put on hold for a while, after which the same woman I'd been speaking with came back and reported that her supervisor had said to tell me: We didn't receive the required material and you cannot resubmit material for this rebate. I explained that before I filed a consumer complaint I had wanted to go through proper channels and speak to a supervisor. This time I was put on hold with the explanation that at any time I could press the star symbol to leave a message and my call would be returned within 24 hours. After about 20 minutes of being on hold and trying to use the star symbol (to no avail), it became clear that there would never be an answer and I could never leave a message, so I gave up. The rebate redemption form said nothing about the copy of the bill's pages having to be on separate sheets of paper, so I maintain that I fulfilled the requirements. I don't want my mother-in-law to be deprived of the $69.95 she was promised. Can you help? Thank you, Emily Click this link to e-mail the message author: Email User

BEWARE......DO NOT BUY a internet modem online with the rebates through Broadbandoffers.com -- you will NEVER receive your rebates as promised. I too was scammed. My son found the site online and I ordered the internet modem through them thinking I would save money over renting through Comcast. That was a joke. Once the internet was installed Comcast is not resposible for any future problems since it is not their property nor will they install it for you. After we figured it out, I sent in all of the information required to get my rebates. I waited and waited and nothing ever came in the mail. Broadbandoffers told me the rebate checks had been mailed and was returned to them. Supposedly, my rebate was reissued and resent. Once again I did not receive it. What are the chances of this happening when I have never had a problem with my mail. Now, they say they can't reissue the check. This is the biggest scam ever. They string you along until you can't do anything about it. Even if you charged the original purchase, you figure out the scam months later which is too late to do anything about the charge. Broadbandoffers has this all figured out and it is disgusting that the BBB can't close them down.

I had a similar 'Scam' situation. I believe broadbandoffers.com counts on the fact that you won't be able to be 'approved' for the rebate. I placed the order for my modem and about 10 minutes later realized that I didn't want it (having thought about the whole process and I would rather buy from a store near me where I could purchase and return if I had a problem). After seeing no number to call posted on their website I replied to the email that sent me the order confirmation. About an hour later a received an email saying the order had already been processed and that I would have to return it once I received it and pay the $20 restocking fee. Since the Product was $100 and the rebate was $99 I decided I would just keep it and get the rebate. Well, I received my shipment and found the modem but not the 'packing slip' that they required (along with my first month's bill) for the rebate. I promptly emailed them asking if I could get a copy or just use the confirmation emails they had sent me (that had all of the order and shipping information). I received an email in return saying:

"We're sorry but every order is packed with a shipping invoice. Since the invoice is created at the time of shipment we are not able to create a duplicate."

Meaning in no way could I receive the rebate. I then sent them an email back:

"Hi Sam,

I can guarantee that there was no paper in the box, everything is sitting right in front of me just as I opened it. Just the two boxes as I stated before. Are you telling me that you will not allow me a rebate because you did not pack a shipping slip? As stated before, I have all email communication with all of the information the website said was needed- I can print those and send them in place? If not, is there any other option? "

To which I received the exact same response as before:

"We're sorry but every order is packed with a shipping invoice. Since the invoice is created at the time of shipment we are not able to create a duplicate."

I then sent this email:

"That is the exact same message you sent me before and it didn't seem to answer my questions. I guess if I can not receive my rebate a would prefer to return the equipment. What do I need to do to return it?"

To which they responded:

"We regret that you've decided not to take advantage of this exclusive on-line offer.

Please note that per the terms & conditions and the return & cancellation policy, once you place your order, it is processed immediately, therefore, it cannot be cancelled -- refunds are only available upon the accepted return of the item by Broadbandoffers.com. Items must be returned within 30 days of the modem purchase with all hardware, cables, software and manuals that were included in the package, in the original manufacturers box. A $25 restocking fee will apply to any returns received after 30 days from the date of the modem purchase. Physically damaged items cannot be returned for credit. Any item returned without the original packaging will be subject to a $35 charge. Please send your modem returns to:

* Broadbandoffers.com

* Attn: Returns Department

* 7523 South Lake Parkway

* Jonesboro, GA 30236"

To which I responded:

"I dont understand why I can't get someone to actually look at my emails without an automated response. I don't see how it is fair that you will not process my refund when it is your companies fault i did not receive a packing slip. And I should be charged $20 if I decide to return it because of your error. Or $100 if I were to keep it! Is there no other solution? And please, an email response with 'customer service' in mind would be something I would appreciate."

I have not received a response to that email. I believe they purposefully left out the packing slip so I wouldn't be eligible for a refund. I can't seem to get anything but automated responses.

What do I do???

As long as u paid for it with your credit card, you can call the your company and tell them that you have been scammed, and that you have tried in good faith to work it out with themerchant, then tell them that you are not going o pay fr it. 9 times out of ten, your company will be on your side because they want to maintain business relations with you.

I too, feel I just got scammed with Broadoffers.com via an email I received from www.TimeWarnerSpecials.com with an offer I learned later was too good to be true and happened upon this site during the process that started shooting up red flags for me. I spent four hours on the phone following the procedures for setting up my high speed internet through what I thought was a partner of Time Warner only to find out that they could get to my local district to set up my installation time for me and they kept directly me to my local office who said that they would charge for the install and I told them I would receive it free according to the internet offer. The local rep said I would have to go through the internet offer to get the install free if that's what they offered. When I started digging further I learned that they had already charged my credit card $89.90 for the modem that they are supposed to ship to me but I'm learning I may not see it at all or much later than I would like. So I called my CC company and put a complaint in, cancelled my credit card so no further charges can be made on it, and prepared my self for a battle to get the charge removed within the next 60 days. I called the "real" Time Warner and set up my service, install and modem is included in the price and yes, I will pay for installation but at least I know they are real and that it will happen when they say it will happen. Learned my lesson and I hope by sharing this that others will be warned and be on the lookout for those fraudulent emails. I'm pretty good about it, but I was searching for internet service and this company got my email because of my request for information and I believed them to be legitimate and now I know the truth. It's a shame that the people I spoke to do not have any integrity when telling me bald faced lies over the phone about what is suppose to happen. How can they sleep at night or live with themselves?

BroadbandOffers.com is a FRAUD.

I purchased a cable modem from them which never arrived. Earlier, they said DHL has delivered it. But where is it?? I never got one. Then they said, DHL is investigating the matter (NOTE: they never took the responsibility themselves). After 15 days I again asked, they said DHL takes 30 days. Then after 30 days, I asked and they said DHL has right to hold it for 60 days. And then after 60 days, when I asked them, they said DHL has denied your claim. What the he..

THEY ARE FRAUDS

Please spread this word across the internet, so that nobody else is caught into this.

I purchased a modem through Broadband offers and when Time Warner tried to install it it would not register on their system. So I am stuck with a modem.. I contacted Broadband and they advised me that their wasnt anything wrong with the modem. However they sent it in a Time Warner box. The technician reported it to their corporate office. If you ask me their is some fraud involved here. I too would like information on this company and how to file a complaint against them. Time Warner said they shoul not be sending these modems out in Time Warner Boxes.

I got screwed by the rebate too. They sent me an email for both the $39.95 rebate and the $40 rebate that you are supposed to get once you buy the modem saying that I am missing a required receipt. But I followed all of the directions and sent everything that they told me to. I tried calling, but the people are morons and won't help you with anything, all they are trained to do is tell you that it is somehow your fault and they wont help you at all. This is the biggest ripoff of all time. I really hope that someone starts some sort of class action suit against them.

Here we are, more than two years later and Time Warner Cable is still dealing with this company, and its customers are dealing with the same scam. Thanks, Time Warner Cable. I'll be canceling my subscription SOON!

I am also frustated with this broadbandoffer services. I submitted all the required document and then i received a letter saying that the sales receipt is missing out of it suprisingly. And then, i spoke to the customer service people and faxed the copy of the sales receipt as asked by them and waited for 3 months more and contacted them back to inquire about the rebates. Now this people are telling me that they have not received my sales receipt and i can not resend it now as the time expired already. I concluding myself that this is not true and people who ever are dreaming about the rebates can simply foget. Thanks, Reddy
