Pacific Coast Carpet, Inc. has been in business in Concord CA since 1975 ! We certainly would not be in business for over 30 (thirty ) years if we installed defective carpet or padding on any regular basis !!In this instance the consumer was having old carpet/ pad removed and new installed. The existing wallbase (baseboard) had been installed over the top of the old carpet. When Pacific Coast Carpet, Inc. installed the new carpet it wasn't quite as thick as the old carpet, and the baseboard appeared

"above" the new carpeting ! As anyone can understand this situation is certainly not defective carpeting...Pacific Coast Carpet, Inc. absolutely advises its customers on wallbase height as a regular course of business. In some instances, a different thickness pad can help, but in this situation the heighth of the wallbase was too high. These consumers were absolutely advised of this before the carpet was put in !The consumers suggestion of a "strip" beneath the wallbase is not acceptable and would not last nor hold up adequately. The only reasonable solution would be to replace the wallbase, which is a service we provide at a cost, because material and labor does cost money ! The customer did not wish to

hear this because in our opinion they were trying to get something for nothing here. Had they followed our advice in the first place this situation would definitely not have occured !Lastly, the fact that the original complaint states that this customer owes Pacific Coast Carpet, Inc. money is not true. It appears that statement was put into the complaint in an attempt to sway opinion.This is not a case of defective carpeting.Bob H.

Carpets for installation in master bed room and other bed room

 

I purchased carpets from Pacific Coast Carpet Inc. located at 1081 Detroit Avenue, Concord, Ca-94518 on 8-1-05 vide their Invoice No.35431. This Company sent their man with the carpet for installation in master bed room and another bed room. At the time when the man who was fixing the carpet in the master bed room, he was told that there was a gap appearing between the base board and the carpet floor, and that he should either give more padding or we can go in for a thick carpet to avoid this gap. He did not listen to us and told us "let me finish my job and then you can talk to me". I had requested the owner of the company to have the defect rectified a couple of times in person and also on phone. I have even told him that I can buy the material and that he should send the man to put the strip beneath

the base board, but he is not agreeing to it. Had the person fixing the carpet listened to us, and advised us for a thicker carpet as was earlier installed or should have provided extra padding this problem would not have arisen. I had paid $600 at the time of purchase and have to pay the balance amount of $689.92, I would appreciate if the complaint is looked into and the matter resolved enabling me to make the amount due and ensuring a satisfactory completion of the work.
