Car - Mike Calvert Toyota

August 15, 2005

Complaint sent to Mike Calvert Toyota which they never responded to: On the late afternoon of August 13, 2005, Robert and Holly Currie returned to your dealership to purchase an automobile. We met with Mr. Anderson and test drove several vehicles. After a decision was made as to which vehicle would be purchased and offer was made. The offer was then made by the dealership and we were within 300.00 of the value that was had chosen to pay. The sales manager came out and state several condescending statements to myself as well as my husband. He made acquisitions as to the fact that we or the other dealership we had been to were liars. He also stated that my desire to only finance X amount of dollars on this car were unrealistic, I never told the man the value that I was going to finance through our credit union. He also state that I could not justify my math skills. At this point I was not going to sit in front a of man that had no knowledge of my intelligence and continue to let him INSULT my husband and I. I even made the statement “you have told me I am unrealistic as well as stated I could not justify my math skills“. My husband asked him several time to just be quite because we were going to think about our decision but he continued to insult us. Robert turned to Mr. Anderson and told him to call this man off or he was going to loose the sale,. Mr. Anderson stated “I can‘t he is my boss“. The Man continued, at that point Robert told the sales manager if he had just shut up that he was probably going to buy the car but after the treatment we received he had just lost Mr. Anderson’s sale. By the way we purchased a truck from you in 2001 with cash for my oldest daughters graduation, check under HEWITT in May 2001. I as well as my husband both hold degrees and do not fall to this type of sales tactics. I did learn something in a college course I took in marketing. Customers that have a good experience will spread the word, but bad experiences are spread even faster!
