Walmart Walmart August 14, 2005 My complaint is about Walmart Supercenter # 1590, Hialeah, Fl in the Miami metro area. I have been shopping at Walmart's around the country since 1983 but this store has made me decide to go elsewhere for my stuff. Here are my gripes:
Long lines: in the last 4 months, I've waited in the checkout line 3 times, for 22 min., 29 min., and 41 min. Normally, I would get fed up and leave after 5 minutes but I am remodeling my condo and need paint stuff, etc. at a reasonable price. After the 41 min. wait, I asked to see a manager to complain and was told he was unavailable. I have been to this store at various times of the day and the few cashiers open always have very long lines. From now on, I'll go shop at Lowe's or Home Depot, at least the lines are shorter and you can get some help sometimes.
Poor service (unless you speak Spanish, I do some but not enough to ask for unusual items in Spanish - ever tried to ask for a toilet plunger in Spanish? I'm not a racist but I just want to get a little help to find my stuff, I feel like a dummy trying to mime the item to the clerk to make myself understood), empty shelves, crowded aisles, nonexistent prices, mispriced items.
"Used" food: Several times I've bought food items, taken them home, and found the seals were broken - somone had snacked on the item in the store and replaced the lid and put the item back on the shelf - I now check everything I buy to make sure the seals are secure.
I have shopped at Walmarts all across the country since 1983, Cal., Nev., Utah, Tex., NMex., Colo., Ill, Mo., Tenn., KY, GA, and without a doubt the stores in So. Florida are the worst in my opinion. I even complained to Walmart online and they blew me off also.
So, here is what I do now. I buy from local merchants for things I need in a hurry. The prices are higher than Walmart but they treat me like a human being (sometimes). Before I go to Walmart or Target or any of the other Box Stores now, I wait until I have only one roll of toilet paper in the house or whatever before I will torture myself and stand in line. I now go to an older Walmart to shop, since the lines seem to be more manageable. I'm retired so I have lots of time to plot my forays to the store. My time is valuable too.
Wal mart has gotten to be too big and uncaring about their customers. Vote with your feet and shop elsewhere.
