Lowe's: Harbor Breeze ceiling fan

Lowe's: Harbor Breeze ceiling fan Lowe's: Harbor Breeze ceiling fan August 14, 2005 Lowe's: Findlay, OH
My husband and I recently purchased a Harbor Breeze Bella Vista ceiling fan for our bedroom, however once we reviewed it a little more, we decided that it might hang too low from our low ceiling. We decided that we could do without an attached overhead light fixture on the fan so I hauled it back to Lowe's, where we purchased it, to confirm if this was possible. Upon stating my situation I was referred to a young woman who told me that most of Lowe's ceiling fans, including the one we had purchased, contained caps that made the light fixtures optional. So we took the fan back home and installed it...however there was no cap. After a call to the place of purchase we were reassured that Lowe's would be able to fix the problem if we came back to the store (without the fan since it was already installed). After FINALLY finding the person we needed to talk to, we were informed that the initial girl who told us about the cap nonsense had been fired for previous occurances, and there was nothing we could do, given Harbor Breeze does not make optional lighting fixture caps for their fans. We were then told that we shouldn't have purchased the fan for our low-ceiling-ed bedroom in the first place by this final Lowe's employee, who then suggested we either bring the fan back and state it defective, put it in a higher-ceiling-ed room, or throw it away. I fail to beleive there is nothing that can be done about this and I am very disappointed in the service we received from Lowe's considering we have given them the majority of our business throughout the remodeling of our home.
