Problems at Target.com Problems at Target.com August 13, 2005
I logged on to Target.com and purchased a 37" Olevia LCD (ships within 24 hours) with a credit card that I've used to purchased large items before (8/09.) The transaction went through and I received a status that the device would arrive approx. the 17th. I reviewed the order on the 11th, and the status was "not shipped." I emailed customer service and requested an answer on the shipping delay, and received no response. On the 12th, I sent another email request. On the 13th, I called the 800 number and was told that because the purchased was over some amount, it required a manual review. I was also told that there was nothing that the customer service lead that I spoke with (Amber) could do about this situation. It would have to wait until Monday, when an account specialist would review the orders. I was also told that my order was not the only order the "specialist" would be responsible for reviewing??? Obviously, the questions are many: 1. why would it take so many business days to get some kind of approval? 2. why would there be NO updates to the customer? 3. Why in the world would Customer Service EVER tell a customer that their order is simply one of many?? 4. Why would you state that it would ship within 24 hours, and then delay shipment for so long? I'm keeping this on order, so that I can see exactly how long it takes to fulfill the order. I believe that the public should be aware of such problems and issues, so not everyone has to go through this kind of cycle! I could have ordered this from many vendors, but chose Target.com. Thank you for posting this entry, Mike S. This was an anniversary present, by the way!
