I learned about Kay Jewellers the hard way. I had taken my engagement ring, a heart-shaped diamond, to be cleaned and inspected. I had done this for the last 13 years. The manager noticed there was a bent prong and recommended repair.

 

I delivered the ring to his care. Bottom line is Kay Jewellers LOST my ring. They offered to replace it, but I opted for the cash value based on the Certificate of Guarantee that had come with the ring. It took me 3 months to settle.

 

I sent Kay Jewellers 2 letters. I wrote the first myself, and, after another month had gone by without a reply, not even an acknowledgement or apology, I had a lawyer write them again. After 3 months of being ignored, I went to a real lawyer who got me a cash value, but not all I had asked for. The Certificate of Guarantee in not a guarantee at all. I tell everyone I know NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM ANY KAY JEWELLERS STORE!
