appliance nightmare
Bray and Scarf ( several locations in the greater Washington DC area ) Telephone #: 301-470-7500 Bought $6500 worth of appliances from this company in Jan. 2004. Handles for the GE profile refrigerator were left off and it took 6 weeks to get them on. Then the Jenn Air oven door wouldn't close. Bray and Scarf replaced the hinges the first time which took about 6 weeks between trying to get an appointment and waiting for the hinges to come in. Two months later, the same oven door fell on the floor. It took another two weeks to get Bray and Scarf to come out.
Said they would get right back to me about getting a new door or a new oven for us. I never heard anything so I called one week later and was told that another set of hinges were ordered. When I complained, they put me on with Alice, the manager, who told me that she would try and get us a new oven or a new door as the old one was bent, scratched, and it seemed that since two sets of hinges had not worked, that maybe it was best to get a new door.
She also gave me her direct line but when I call, it just rings and no one ever answeres. In fact, when you call service at Bray and Scarf, you have to wait for 20 minutes or more and when someone finally does answer the phone, no one knows what is going on. Completely incompetent service people. I finally contacted my extended warranty company, GE, and they told me that they would send someone out to check on the oven for a second opinion. I made an appointment and then several days later got a call from Bray and Scarff saying that they were trying to schedule an appointment with me but didn't know what the problem was. Hello?! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BRAY AND SCARF. You'll be sorry you did. They all about selling you something but if you need service, forget it. You'll go through hell trying to get anything repaired and you will deal with incompetent employees. What a mess. Jane GoldPitt - DC

Their Service Manager appears to be a rookie and is in way over his head. His name is John Lawler or something like that. They don't care about taking care of their paying customers. Purchased the extended warranty - 8 weeks and 4 service calls later still not fixed! (parts not ordered, misorder parts, truck broke down, technician sick - you name it!). Dishwasher ruined floor and downstairs ceiling. Technician apparently didn't fixed it right and need another new motor. Service manager does not return calls. A box store has better customer service.
