I purchased a Calypso washing machine thru Sears 01/01. I have had one service call per year for the electronic components and now have had to call due to mold issues. The machine was serviced today. When the top was opened the interior was covered in mold and mildew.

 

The service tech told me to use vinegar & soda once a week to keep the machine clean. I am very upset that my clothes smell, that the washing machine supposedly designed to make life easier now requires weekly maintenance just to keep it clean.

 

I am concerned that mold is a serious issue for our health. My mother has asthma and my husband allergies which I believe have been getting worse - probably due to the mold left in their clothes from using this machine.

 

I am interested in finding out how to become part of any legal action against Whirlpool either to replace the washing machine with a different type that does not have this problem, or money to compensate for the fact that I will need to buy a new machine to protect my family from mold.
