A T & T Long Distance

A T & T Long Distance 325 Essjay Rd. Williamsville, NY, UNITED STATES, 14221 Complaint Information Complaint Type: General Complaint Date Received: 4/26/2005 Primary Complaint Classification: Credit or Billing Disputes Secondary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices Complaint: I signed up for At&T local (from Bell South) and long distance(from MCI) services after talking to a sales person promoting AT&T. He convinced me that I would same money so I added local and long distance phone services. He wanted me to add onto AT&T internet services which I refused. Next month I figured out my that my local phone bill has gone up and I wanted switched ask to Bell South which I did in December. I also noticed they have added me to AT&T internet service without my consent and was charging me about $12 which I complained and the said it was a billing error.

I was not happy with the AT&T billing & practices and I switched to Bell South local and long distance services which was handled by Bell South with my consent. I paid my bills up to the date I had services with AT&T. I checked with them over the phone and they told me I'm cleared of all the charges. later in January I was billed $12 again and I called, AT&T said there was a miscommunication between local and regional AT&T and as far as regional (national) concerned I have no payment and they gave me a number to call local AT&T.

I spoke with them and they also agreed with what regional AT&T long distance told me and I am cleared of any payment. Then again I got a bill in Feb 2005 for $12 and I called in March and it said it would be taken care of. Now in April, I get a bill again from AT&T credit management services telling me to pay $12 or spoil my credit report since they are going to report to credit reporting agencies. I called again and they (regional AT&T long distance service) said I have to pay this amount and nothing I can do about it. I was disappointed with AT&T billing practices and their disregard for time customers have to spend correcting their own mistakes. I consider this as harassment. I know $12 is not much I could have saved my time sending it to AT&T but as a principal and worrying about this type of thing happening to other customers I decided not pay this amount even at the risk of tarnishing my credit report. I wanted the amounts that I have to pay be clearly explained if I really owe it. I wanted to know why the AT&T kept telling me that I didn't owe this amount and kept me billing. If there was a mistake on their part I want an apology. I'm not in the business of suing companies but wanted this to be settled properly.
