Direct TV takes 6 - 8 weeks to refund my money Direct TV takes 6 - 8 weeks to refund my money
Dr Sir, I was a good paying customer of Direct TV for over 4 years. I recently switched to Dish Network because they offered more for the same amount of money. I contacted Direct TV and told them why I was switching and gave them the chance to keep my business. They were unable to match what Dish Network could do. So I informed them that I was cancelling my service at that time. I paid the first month's service in advance, so I should not have been debitted for the upcoming billing cycle. About 1 week later, Direct TV billed my debit card for $48.68.
I contacted Direct TV and ask them to reverse the debit on my card and they informed me then that it would take 6 - 8 weeks to refund my money. My family is a one income family and 48.68 is alot of money for us. I can't understand two things about this situation: First, why they debitted my account after I cancelled my service with them.
Isn't there some kind of law against a business accessing your account against your will. And second, why does it take 6 - 8 weeks for them to refund my money. If I went 6 - 8 weeks without paying for my service they would cancel my service in a heartbeat. Why are companies like this allowed to have double standards like this.
sincerely,
