Sprint Cellular Phone Service
Having satisfied my 2-year commitment to Sprint, I UPGRADED my service to include a companion phone, at increased fees, of course. Unknown to me at the time, my contract was extended for a year as a result of this upgrade. FOUR days before the expiration of this one-year extension (still unknown by me)....
I cancelled my service. Subsequently. I received an invoice in the amount of $300.00 ($150.00 each phone) advising that I had violated my contract. I immediately called customer service...explaining my position and was told by a supervisor, and I quote, "too bad, you should have waited 4 more days to cancel". Obviously, had I known about this extension, I would have waited the four days.
I am now being harassed by the collections department, with phone calls demanding payment. When I explained why I wasn't paying, I was told, "that's not our problem...call customer service".
I repeat, I was NOT informed by any sales personnel (at Best Buy, by the way, ) that my contract agreement with Sprint had been extended for one year when I upgraded my service.
In conclusion, if Sprint can provide me with proof that I knew of this extension...I will, under duress,, pay.
I trust I will receive a response promptly...as I am being billed $15.00 per month in 'late charges'...respectfully submitted,
Paul
