National Credit Audit Corporation

I received a collection notice from the National Credit Audit Corporation demanding to pay $11.97 for a subscription to Hot Rod magazine. My wife, nor I have ever filled out a subscription to this magazine. We did receive a few issues in the mail but never subscribed.

I wrote "return to sender" and mailed back their magazine. I have e-mailed the magazine's subscriber services and I'm waiting for a reply. I did a search on the net and found numerous complaints against this collection company. I will definitely not pay for services that were never requested nor delivered. Needless to say we will not be paying this agency any money. William from Miami, Florida National Credit Audit Corporation

As of 1/5/2009 National Credit Audit Corporation Collection Department no longer exists.

I received a bill for $12.00 for surfer magazine. I called an alternative number 309-689-1000 that was mentioned above and was told the information.

I am also launching a complaint with the other company listed about half way down the page with the phone number 952-928-8000.

I have never ordered the subscription on Western Outdoors magazine nor received the magazine. However, I have received three collection notices from this National Credit Audit Corporation demanding $14.95 for the subscription. I have decided to see what kind of the company it is. And, not surprisingly, this is the company which just send unfounded collection notices and thus making the innocent citizens a bad credit mark which none of us deserve.

I really wish BBB will take strong action against such fradulent company and protect the good citizens.

I'm glad I looked this company up before getting even more upset than I already was when I opened the "Collection Notice" from them yesterday. I couldn't believe these people were serious! It was like there were going to ruin my credit (over some magazine that I didn't subscribe to)... for $8.00!!! I called Redbook directly today @ 515-283-2578 and they answer as Country Living customer service but they also handle subscriptions for Redbook. Within a couple of minutes my so called "subscription" was cancelled and she was going to inform National Credit Audit Corp. that the account was clear. I told her I thought it was a scam and she was very sorry... blah blah blah... I understand that she "only works there" but it seems that a class action law suit could be filed.

I'm glad I found this site too! It really helped me solve my problem with the same Collection company. I receieved my collection letter today for a subscription I didn't sign up for. After reading the comments here, I decided to go directly to the magazine & skip the collection comp. Called REDBOOK, told them my problem, they cancelled the subscription, told me there will be no blemish on my credit record and the collection agency will be notified by them. I might get one more letter but to just toss it since the letters are already pre-printed. My advice: skip the collection company and call the magazine that you supposedly have a subscription with.

Hi! My name is Jennifer I received the same notice I payed the magazine directly. DO NOT SEND MONEY DIRECTLY TO THEM. I CALLED AND GOT NO ANSWERS TO WHY THEY WERE COLLECTING A DEBT THAT I DID NOT INCURE. I sent National Credit Audit Corp a letter stating that I payed the magaizne directly, and mailed a receipt along with the letter. That collection agency has never bugged me again. I have reported National credit audit corp to the attorney general. Also, I cancelled the subscribtion with the magazine.

I hope this information helps you.

I received a bill for National Credit Audit Corp. too. Should I send their bill and write that I did not receive and to leave us alone, or just ignore the bill. I know it's a scam.

I am writing this note in order to mdispute an order for Good Housekeeping magazine. In truth, I did receive 1 copy of the mag., onto which I wrote very boldly, "Return to sender". There were no other copies after that.

Last week I received a collection letter which advised me that I needed to send $24.00 to them to clear 'my account' for a script I did not and do not wish to receive.

Please advise and help.

I received a collection notice from this company for $19.97 for a Scientific American subscription that I never ordered or received. This "company" is extorting money from unsuspecting targets. I called Scientific American to make sure that this notice is a scam, and they confirmed that it is indeed a scam. I was disappointed by the total lack of concern by the Sci Am rep. These scam artists need to be thrown in jail!

National Credit Audit Corporation
8512 Allen Rd., Peoria, IL 61615
Peoria, IL 61615
You try to find it

This scam has hit me, too. I'm so glad to have found this page. It comes up as the #1 result on a Google search on "National Credit Audit Corporation".

At the top of the letter, in RED it says, COLLECTION NOTICE -- ACTION REQUIRED. The letter informs me that I owe $33.90 for a subscription to Cook's Illustrated magazine. I did accept a free offer for a book from Cook's Illustrated, but promptly cancelled the order per the subscription offer.

I even have email I sent to them last December, 2007, telling them to stop sending me invoices because I did NOT subscribe.

What a sleazy practice! I always enjoyed Cook's Illustrated magazine. I had no idea they'd be such unethical slimeballs in trying to collect money that isn't due to them!

I wouldn't touch them or their company now with a ten foot poll.

Meanwhile, I intend to report this NCAC the authorities for Postal fraud, consumer fraud, and any kind of fraud I can find a state or federal agency to nail them with.

They are collecting money through nothing but intimidation. They should be stopped, and someone should be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, if I find that they are adversely affecting my excellent credit rating, I intend to get legal representation and sue them for every penny they're worth.

Meanwhile, SHAME on Cook's Illustrated Magazine for having anything to do with them.

We just received a "collection notice" from NCAC for a Sport Rider subscription. We decided to do some research first before paying, and I found this site. I have to say thanks for all the info. I ended up calling 309.689.1000, and spoke w/ a lady there. And she seemed to know what was going on. She said that she would take us off the subscription list. Also, they don't report to the collection agency from what she said - they just work for the magazine. Anyways, we will see if this works. She also said that if we receive another notice to put on the envelope: REFUSED - CANCEL - RETURN TO SENDER.

So, again.... we shall wait and see if this works.

Yep - I got one today. I think they are related to Hearst Publishing Group - their magazines.

I ordered a group of magazines though their website a few months ago for my Mother and myself. I put all of them on my credit card at the time. The next day I got an email that one subscription payment for $5.00 did not go through. I wasn't sure so I waited until my credit card statement came back to me. It wasn't on it, so I waited for them to bill me.

I got a late bill for $5.00 - and put it aside - things happened and it got waylaid. I got another late bill. And more things happened in my family. The publisher was going to cut my subscription - I had only rec'd one copy - and thought fine, let them cancel it.

Then I saw a new issue in the store and I liked it so I got the bill and was going to pay it. Then I got another notice to pay the $5.00, but this time they said I could pay online - so I did so. And I thought that was that.

Then in today's mail I get this thing from a so called Collection Agency - for a past due amount of $5.00.

I had to laugh - no company in its right mind would sell off a debt, that couldn't really be considered a debt - nor one for less then $25.00 - it's foolhardy -and to the company involved - a loss of money.

So I really think that this company is part of the Hearst Corporation - and that they try to intimidate people into paying past due amounts - even though it seems that most of us don't want the magazines, or we didn't order them, or we already paid for them.

I'm going to contact them to tell them my money is already with the publisher - and I'm going to do a bit more research to see if this company is part of Hearst companies.

I received a simlar notice from National Credit Audit Corporation trying to collect $12.97 for a subscription to Slam magazine that was an obvious prank order for my daughter with her name misspelled and her last name spelled backwards. When we received the magazine I e-mailed Slam magazine to inform them that this was a prank order (no toll-free #). I continued to receive billing statements from Slam then then this notice from NCAC. I saw red. But after reading these comments, I think a complaint to the Attorney General is in order. This is mail fraud! I'm glad I am not that easily intimidated or snowed and feel sorry for people who are falling victim to their scare tactics.

I just received a similar letter signed by the very same Mr. Seymour Cardoza. He wants me to pay for a year subscription for Enterpreneur, which I have never requested. Indeed, Enterpreneur sent me a few issues on their own and offered a subscription, but I contacted them and said that I was not interested.

I am planning on writing Mr. Cardoza a letter explaining that in fact, I declined the publishers' offer, so the publishers can not claim that I requested the subscription. Moreover, I will inform him that I am going to contact the local Attorney General office and report the publisher and the National Credit Audit Corporation, who both are engaged in illegal activities of getting my money for what I did not requested.

Regards,

LAP

Thanks for all your input on this bogus company. They are not listed on toll free directory nor local directory. You can't get to a person via their listed phone number. My husband ordered a magazine that never arrived yet we are collected for the whole year's subscription! Esp. I'm not paying to someone who wouldn't dare to show their faces! This IS a Scam!!... By the way, the magazine's name is "Sailing World".

I received the same notice and unfortunately for me, the invoice was paid immediately by my wife. That was because of my lack of coordination and caused an even worse situation, trying to get my money back! Like others say, this is a bogus collection company that merely works through intimidation tactics. If you pay then getting your money back is even more difficult although persistence did pay off for us. By the way, this all began, not as a subscription, but no action on renewal for FLORIDA SPORTSMAN magazine and the agency that handles this is located in Palm Coast, FL. Of course, they could not produce anything from me indicating I had ordered their publication. It took as many as 30 emails and several phone calls to get my money on June 9, 2008. I began the process on January 8, 2008. I was put off many times, been promised I'd receive a check within 4-7 weeks several times, and was given numerous other excuses by these people (they are experts)! I suggest that you NEVER purchase any publication with a subscription management company listed in Palm Coast and should you get any demand for payment from National Credit Audit Corp., just ignore the letter. Round file it and forget! Mike in NW Florida

I also rec'd one of these. Upon trying to call 309-692-3441 I was shuffled around by a variety of button options only to land on a line that only accepted credit card numbers to pay the debt. I called several times trying different options with the same result. Never was I able to obtain a person. I have filed a complaint with my state attorney general's office.

I too have recieved a letter SHERMAN's TRAVEL MAGAZINE and I took this to my lawyer, We were able to locate a phone number for National Credit Audit Corporation 309-689-1000.

After speaking to them I found out this is a complete JOKE They are preying on the American people who will say its only $9.95 I will just pay it and keep it off my credit. I have perfect credit and have worked hard to keep it that way, I will not let an unethical company ruin it. Call this number and they will "credit the charges and remove them from being past due"

We need to take back AMERICA and become an, ETHICAL CARRYING NATION AGAIN AND PUT THESE BUSINESS OUT OF COMMISION!!

So, is this organization a scam, or what? I received a notice that I haven't paid for my Playboy subscription...I never signed up for this subscription, and I've been trying to figure out how to handle it. It's nice to know they don't report to a credit agency, though.

They do not report to a credit agency! All you need to do is call:

309-692-3441

You can dispute, pay or cancel your subscription from here. Again, they do not report to a credit agency so you do not need to worry about that.
