Consumer follow-up message - October 12, 2004 - From: // Since I contacted you the company sent me a voucher as replacement for the faulty item. It was a long and irritating process but it was resolved. I would still not buy anything else at Best Buy. Alice
olympus recorder J500 Best Buy rebate center: I purchased an Olympus Recorder from Best Buy with a two year replacement plan. In order for the batteries not to "leak" one has to remove them after each use which is ridiculous for a manual recorder. Anyway, that is a design fault and not Best Buy's.
I have spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to get Best Buys to handle my request for a replacement voucher which I can use to for another item. I still have not reached anyone to answer this simple question. I did get through to three different people each transferred me to someone else only to end up at the beginning again.
The Best Buy store where I bought the item can't handle this they can only exchange it for another one, so I am forced to make a further phone call, waste goodness knows how long and probably not get a satisfactory answer even then. I will never buy another item from them.
