On August 26th,2004 I brought my Nissan Path finder in for service because the driver side power seat does not work and is now stuck in the far back position. I was told by the service staff of Gerald Nissan that one of the three motors that control the seat position has failed and as a result the entire power seat assembly will have to be replaced at a cost of $1300.00 plus.

When my wife and I purchased the vehicle last year (exactly one year ago) We deliberately inquired as to the warranty on the powered features of the car. As a result we were encouraged by the sales staff to purchase the extended warranty to extend the then existing warranty by three years. I was explicitly told that such items would be covered and honored by Gerald Nissan. I know for a fact that the lifetime for the Nissan motors in a powered seat or window are designed to be greater than 2 years; therefore I am lead to believe that this must be a defective motor.

Evident to this is the fact that the other five motors still operate flawlessly. The car has been well maintained as Gerald Nissan's records will reflect and the ware and tear on the motor is minimal since the only drivers are my wife and I (mostly me). Nonetheless; my wife can no longer drive the vehicle in the present seat configuration (she can not reach the pedals).

I was told by the team service manager Harold Brickles that Nissan's service manager Christopher Brischetto would be looking into this matter with Nissan North America to resolve the issue. I was hoping that this matter could be resolved soon, because in addition to the the obvious problems I mentioned above the back seat position behind the driver is also inconvenienced. I have seen no clear Legal disclaimer from Nissan that explicitly say that my powered seats are not covered after 1-2 years of operation. To this date I have received no official word from Nissan. I am hoping that you can be of assistance in this matter.

Thank you. Arden warner

I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and both of my power seat motors have stopped working also. Its a large in convience for me. I wonder if this is a common problem with the Pathfinders. Also, my 6 disc CD changer has quit working and from what I have seen at other places that is a very common problem.
