Pet Store: Pass Pets Bloomington Indiana College Mall. About 1 Month ago we visited this store, we are (were) regular customers. Upon that visit we saw a tank near the check out that had several baby bearded dragons in it.. They were reduced for quick sale, however upon looking in the tank.. What we found was totally unacceptable Each of the reptiles were suffering from mal-nutrition and missing body parts, arm legs eyes,. Etc.. We pointed out to the cashier that this was negligence on their part and needed to be rectified. A blank stare was all we got.. We decided to go back this month and see if conditions have changed. We found one baby breaded dragon in the tank.. It was very in active, suffering from severe mal-nutrition. The food they were trying to feed it was several times the size of its head.. The correct food for a bearded dragon baby is food half the size of its head. This allows then to enjoy eating a wide verity of food items. What they had in the tanks were large chunks of a mixture of items. Each chunk about twice the size of the dragons head. These babies cannot eat this .. they have no way to get it down.. They need to feed them a proper diet of vegetables, DICED romaine lettuce, Not leaf or head lettuce, other acceptable vegetables, and Crickets and meal worms of a size they can eat. Retha Kutche went in to the pet shop discovered the continued unacceptable conditions and spoke to the clerk behind the desk.. All he wanted to do was argue and question here expertise. He more or less indicated they were harmed while fighting.. And have been eating just fine.. And that she does not know what she is talking about.. First baby Dragons do not fight.. However when under feed, they become cannibalistic, thus the missing body parts. Secondly my wife and I have been working with reptiles long before this man was born. She tried to talk to him and make an offer to put on a free Saturday Demo on how to feed and care for this very nice and friendly reptiles.. But he would not quit with the denial .. Se we feel we must first get someones attention.. Here is our offer.. A schedules Saturday they have their staff any and all, must have any employees who handles the reptiles present. And we will put on a presentation and learning class for them to know what to feed the dragons as well as how to prepare the food as well as the cleaning up after them that is just as equally important as the feeding and handling of these pets Its obvious to us that they are just in it for the money, as they have shown no regard to these animals. They get them in if they sell before they starve or before they eat each other.. Then they get a few bucks. If not I am sure they get disposed of in a rather haphazard way.. Like stuff in a trash bag. Let me make a statement.. We could careless about Pass Pets ability to make money.. What we do care about is the conditions at which the pets are kept.. Here are their options as I see them. 1) Let us teach them the dos and donts of caring for and handling Bearded Dragons. And be able to sell healthy animals and have fewer returns due to a premature death. 2) Or continue to miss treat these animals and have us continue to complain until the results that we expect have taken place, by some other method.. Another words if they do not wish us to teach them. Hire a reptile expert to teach them Any other avenue that continues to put the Reptiles in harms way will result in contacting someone who does have the power to take care of this quite obvious case of gross negligence. Remember .. All this can be taken care of if the owner would allow us to spend a Saturday (No Charge) in their facility teaching and explaining the care and handling of these Reptiles Bearded Dragons.) With no difficulties due to these complaints.. As we realize we were most likely not speaking to the owner.. Whom may very well be unaware of the problem..
