Maytag Magic Chef range with Control Membrane
RE: Magic Chef range purchased in March1995 - F1 Failure Code - lots of money spent for repairs I have finally figured out what the F 1 alarm means on Magic Chef ranges built in 1994 and 1995. "FIX BIANNUALLY." That's right; Magic Chef built this feature into its electronic control board so that it would go off like an alarm clock every 12 to 24 months and drive its owner nuts with the beeping and flashing of F1 24 hours a day.
I purchased model 6498XTS in March of 1995 not knowing it had this F 1 option. Since then, I have had the board and touch pad membrane replaced several times and now it is flashing and beeping F 1 again. Maytag simply suggests I contact an authorized service company and denies ever having received any complaints of this infamous F 1 code. Researching the interrnet I have found hundreds of consumers that have the same F 1 problem. Maytag lied to me! what a cover up! I will certainly not be buying a Magic Chef or any other brand of Maytag again. A Disgruntled Consumer Peter K Newton, MA
