Another unhappy customer

As you can see by the title of my email to you I am a very unhappy customer of Iconfitness. I just recently purchased a Image 16.0Q treadmill from Wal-mart, I did realize that this was a lower end model but I felt that it was still a Icon product and it would be a good product for the money I had to spend. I have had 2 problems with the treadmill and they both started the minute I started using it. The heartbeat monitor bar does not give anywhere near a accurate pulse reading. No matter how many times I try it while walking or while standing on the side rails I get readings ranging from 95 to 192, Now that is one right after the other. There is no way that my pulse can go from 95 to 192 in a matter of seconds. This is just one example of how the readings are. I can try 10 times and each time I'll get strange numbers. The belt slips if I get faster than 3.5 MPH, I have read how to adjust the belt but I guess I am not doing it right because I can't get the belt to be centered and no slip. OK those are my original problems but this email ( if it gets to you) is about your support. I originally sent a support request on 9/14 and to date have not received anything except the automated email telling me my request was received. After getting no response I decided to call and thank God it was a toll free number because I sat on hold for 42 minutes.

When I did get thru to a support tech I explained that I had a problem with the heart monitor bar not being accurate, he said to me " those things are not going to be accurate" he also told me " you have to be standing on the side rails to get a accurate reading" then put me on hold while he tried to find something in my user manual that indicated that the monitor wasn't suppose to be accurate, he couldn't find it. I read my manual cover to cover and did not see anything saying the bar pulse monitor wasn't suppose to be accurate. He said if you want a good reading buy one of our wireless chest monitors, I explained that the reason I bought the model I did was because everything I read about it was positive and it already had a pulse monitor so why would I need to buy one. He repeated himself "Because those bar monitors aren't really that good" I told him that they could keep sending out techs to fix this bar monitor or send me the chest one, either way I want and need a accurate reading to get the right workout. He said " about the chest monitor, it won't happen but we can send out a tech" I also own a NordicTrack Ellipse E7 and was wanting to get a user manual for it. He explained why there was not a manual to download on your website but said he could email me a copy. I thought that was nice of him but then he said it will go out tomorrow ? why tomorrow I asked, He said " there is another dept. that sends those out" Well it's been about 4 tomorrows already and I have not received a thing. Do you see a pattern here? didn't get email support, didn't get promised email with user manual for Ellipse E7, didn't get service for the bad monitor bar on my new treadmill. I don't understand why a company would be tops in it's field and have such awful support. None the less I am still a very unhappy customer and will never buy any product that Iconfitness owns, I'll also tell as many people as I can about my experiences so they will not have to go through the same things. I hope you get this email and I also hope you care enough to answer it. Ron H Ron Click this link to e-mail the above consumer: //

It is true the pulse bars are not accurate on any brand, dry hands, loose hand grip all effect them, the best is a chest monitor. the ellipse E-7 is an old machine and was the downfall of Nordic track which Icon fitness then bought out. You should be happy to get a manual yet. Most all of the manuals are down loadable free at the iconfitness.com site. I feel the icon products, Nordic track, proform, weider, weslo, reebock, golds gym, image, ect are a very good product.
