WARNING: Crawford Microsystems - Junk Dealers 1531 Merivale Road Nepean, Ontario, K2G 3J3 CANADA I was sold a motherboard today with a bad CMOS....needless to say, even as a A+ Certified Technician, this board would not POST, or do anything else for that matter with my hardware. Two hours after purchase, I returned to the store, and after waiting for nearly 30 minutes and being skipped several times because they apparently they felt I wasn't worth serving (and it's a small store, I could spit from one side to the another), they were obviously ignoring me on purpose, even though I was standing there waiting for service.
However the fact that their service is horrible is beside the point. Finally 2 1/2 hours after purchase I finally speak to someone. I tell the guy that the board is defective and I need another, or a replacement. He tells me that in order to exchange or refund the product, it needs to be tested and would probably be a day or two, and if it is defective we can only offer store credit, or refund minus 20%!?!?!? I'm sorry I say but I need the item today, if I needed it in a day or two, I would have bought it elsewhere at a better price. A little miffed at this point, I say fine, and leave the store.
The next day the person that calls himself the "Shop Manager" calls me and tells me that the board is not defective, and that it meets the "Manufacturers Specifications".
I return to the store, and speak with this guy, and he tells me that the board is working fine, and again that it meets the "Manufacturers Specifications". So I ask, what exactly are the manufacturers Specifications, since he so flagrantly uses the phrase, and he says wasn't sure, he would have to go look it up. So I ask, who worked on the testing, and he tells me he did. So the next obvious question would be...so how do you know it meet's the "Manufacturers Specifications" then??? And being someone who knows the "Manufacturers Specifications" would you not know that it works with only specific types of memory such as the more expensive brand names.
I ask the so-called "Shop Manager", to try it with the lesser expensive memory, which I was using and had purchased from them previously. He tells me, "I'm sorry we don't sell that type of memory anymore". Looking over his shoulder into the display case I see several unopened packages of the very memory in question.
Obviously this is some kind of scam they have going. But wait!!! It gets better. He tells me that in order to return the board, I need to return the missing parts!!! MISSING PARTS!?!?! I only had the thing for 2 1/2 hours...more of the same scam obviously. OK fine, give me the board then, and I'll take my business elsewhere, I'll swallow the loss and get the hell out of here. I take the board to leave and the "Crook" tells me that I have to pay $25 for the testing!!!!! That was the last straw!!
I hate to say it but at that point the profanities began....
I told him I would not pay and that I would not sign anything, (he kept pushing me to sign some form, probably absolving them of any liability). At which point he refused to return the board which I had already paid for. End of story...I'm out $100, and have nothing to show for it but boiling rage! STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Signed, One Angry Guy M. S
