Company: Cingular Wireless I switched from Sprint to Cingular back in January. I felt I could get better service with Cingular. With Sprint, I had a nationwide plan. I purchased my plan with Cingular through the internet. I purchased a similar plan….or so I thought. I received my phone and my wife began using it. For the last several months, I have paid somewhere between $60-75/month for the phone. I never analyzed my bill. I just paid it and I figured that if I had to pay more, I figured my wife had gone over her minutes. See, we live in Ohio, but my wife is from Texas.

She is a stay at home mom, and she is very close with her family. She makes a lot of calls to her family on a daily basis. Anyways, my wife visited her family in Texas for the whole month of July. When I received the phone bill for the month of July, I was shocked. Cingular said I owed $1,200!! It showed that all the phone calls made by my wife in Texas were considered roaming calls. I called Customer Service and they told me that I was signed up with the Home Plan and that calls made outside my area were considered roaming. I was furious. I asked the representative why I would switch from a national plan with sprint to a home plan with Cingular for the same price per month. I told her I wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that.

She said that previous bills had shown some roaming charges and because of that I must of known that Home plan meant that I didn’t have a nationwide plan. I asked her to send me a contract of some sort showing me that I signed up for this Home Plan. They said there was no contract on record. I asked to speak to a manager. She came back to the phone 5 minutes later and told me she explained my situation to an area manager. The area manager said that if I faxed copies of past invoices from Sprint, they would change my plan and credit me for the charges. I thought my problem was solved. I faxed over the required documents and waited for my credit.

My wife went back to Texas for 2 weeks in August to see her brother who was back from Afghanistan, where he had been deployed there by the Army. I received a letter a couple of weeks after my conversation with Cingular, saying they have reviewed the case and that I was denied any credits. I was furious!! I called Customer Service and they told me there was nothing more than I could do. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I had to leave a message, but in the message by the supervisor, she promised to return all calls within 72 hours. Well, it has been 2 weeks and I have yet to receive call back. Cingular is totally screwing what would have been a loyal customer. Regards, Aaron G aron G
