Hello Complains.com this is a reply to a complaint about Protect America,Inc. -Alarm Monitoring that i found on your website below. http://www.complaints.com/directory/2004/october/7/16.htm Hello, I hope I am getting the right e-mail address. I am in exactly the same situation. We had our three year contract that's almost over next month! They will not cancel our contract because they can not find the letter I send them in the spring asking them to cancel because we moved from the house. Plus we never had the system activated to begin with as the window "detectors" fell off within the first month and all they offered was a "free piece of velcro" - are you kidding me? Now they are calling us liars that we never send the letter to begin with and tell us we can cancel for 2006! But we have to keep paying for another 12 months of no service - we threw away all their cheap equipment! We do not want to deal with the company that does not provide the service they advertise. They said they can tell by looking at our account that we never used the service in all three years, yet they feel comfortable making us pay another year for nothing - it is immoral. It means they are about money, and NOT about making people feel safe and secure! They told that if I found someone who wants to get the service and start a contract, then maybe they will consider not renewing my contract for another year. I told them that I feel it is immoral for me to offer such service to somebody else when I know they will not get a good service at all! I would not wish on anyone to deal with such an unethical company! I absolutely agree with the customer care service - they would not even give me their names! And they have to do disclose their names - it is simply unprofessional and amateurish. The company representatives were the rudest people I have ever talked to. One person told me he did not how to spell his boss's last name! Unprofessional and uneducated! I have talked so far with every bosses boss- now it's just the CEO left to contact, and his subordinate basically told me that I may not even bother with contacting the company's president because he will accept the decision from below any way! It is an unethical company - you don't get anything close to the service they promote. No safety and security, just more problems. Obviously their interest is not to provide the best security service but is pure monetary! Thank you very much Ann B.

Protect America, Inc. - Alarm Monitoring Protect America, Inc. 5100 N. IH-35, Suite B Round Rock, TX 78681 Protect America Inc. is devious, immoral, and unethical company. After our initial 3 year contract I asked to have the alarm monitoring service cancelled. The Protect America Inc. operator told me that I had to send them a letter to cancel their service. So I told him I would send it right away, he told me I couldn't send it so far in advance from their automatic renewal date that it had to be in a closer timeframe.
Fine, so I waited several months then sent my letter in prior to the 60 days it would auto-renew. Well about a week later my letter comes back because they changed their address and of course never notified their customers of this. So, I sent the letter again once I got their new address. A few days later they send back a letter to inform me that I missed their 60 day deadline prior to their auto-renewal date, but they will cancel it in 2005. What?
We were told we couldn't cancel our contract ahead of time, but suddenly they can cancel it 14 months in advance but suck out another year of payments from us? So we phone them up the day we got their letter back and explain this.
Their operator essentially tells us we are liars about not being able to cancel our contract earlier (and their operators need some people training skills), but has no answer regarding themr changing their address and thus my letter missed the 60 day mark. We asked to speak to the supervisor so they transfer us around and we end up going to voice mail and not getting a return call yet. Some customer service, but this has been typical with them. Protect America Inc. is a completely immoral unethical company and I wish to warn anyone thinking of doing business with them. Chad L.
