On September 27, 2004 I ordered a netegear wireless notebook card and a router. The router was for $80.99 and the notebook wireless card was for $69.99. I made the purchase on bestbuy.com and requested to pickup the merchandise at my local Best Buy store which I been shopping there for more than 15 years. I thought I would try ordering the merchandise online for a change. I received an email 3 hours after I placed the order online and the email states that my order is ready for a pickup. I went to my local Best Buy store the same day and picked up the product I ordered.
When I got home, I opened the merchandise and discovered that the notebook wireless card inside the box is not what should have been. It was an older model. I took the merchandise to the store and told the supervisor at the store about my situation. She said I need to contact Bestbuy.com and ge an approval from them. I did just that while at the store. I used my cell phone and called bestbuy.com. I told customer service at bestbuy.com about my situation.
They told me to do an exchange at the store. I asked her to speak to the store supervisor and give them the approval. I gave my cell to the supervisor and she spoke to the customer service at bestbuy.com. They both talked for 5 minutes and the supervisor handed me the phone back. I again talked to the bestbuy.com customer service but now, when changed her mind and told me to contact the manufacturer. I was very disappointed and shocked about what was happening. I told her all I need is what I paid for. She said no.
I em ailed Best Buy and got the same response... that I need to contact the manufacturer. What am I supposed to do? open every item at the store before leaving the store to insure its what supposed to be there. I purchase product in good faith and expect the product to be working in good condition and expect the product I paid for. If another customer returned the product prior to me purchasing it and the store sealed it without checking it.. is that my fault? I shopped Best Buy for over than 15 years and never had a problem before because I never returned anything prior to this. Now, I know what customer service means at Best Buy... is should be called Worse customer service.
All I can say is that I will never shop at Best Buy again. I will encourage all my family and friends to not shop at Best Buy. I been in retail management for 14 years. I know what customer service means and what it takes to make a customer happy. I paid for a product and it was not the same product I found in the box when I opened it. The store should have taken it back in exchange for the product I paid for. They chose not to do that. They chose to lose many customers and thousands of dollars in sales. That is Best Buy LOSS.
thanks

I don't like the company at all... why should I go to the store to save $5 to spend $60 for PS3... most of the time the coupon is only good on things you don't need or want... they can keep the Reward points and let them pay the postage...
