Dell Computers - Dell.com I had power problems with my dell, it just suddenly stopped working. I did not want to void any warranties or service contracts so I called Dell Customer Support to see what could be wrong, hoping it was something they could help me with. I told the Indian gentleman that was on the line my problem, explained all I had done to remedy it (including unplugging, changing outlets, etc). AFter explaining all of this to me, he proceded to walk me through a scripted dialogue telling me to do the exact same things again! I complied, hoping I had missed something.

 

Towards the end of this, he had me unplugging and unhooking items from the motherboard itself.. which has nothing to do with the power problem. I tried to explain that the fan didnt move at all, no lights lit up at all. On this particular dell system I had previously noted that as long as the power supply was working, the fan would run briefly upon being plugged in. All my explanations did was confuse this man. he continued the script as if I had said nothing.

 

Finally, he said that he had done all he could and said that according to the information he had gotten, my motherboard was shot and I should purchase a new one from Dell. I wass very very irritated by this. I ended up having to leave the computer off for over a week and a half trying to figure it out.

 

Finally I figured out that it was the power supply and purchased one (not from Dell). Now the computer works fine! It turns out that Dell supplies their PCs with inferior and underpowered supplies! Due to this power problem, my computer could not be used for about a week and a half. That computer is what I try to run a home internet consulting service from, I have lost work hours and some revenue; and possibly lost a customer.

 

I had to figure out what was wrong by myself. Aggravation is bad enough, but to think they pride themselves and laud themselves on TV about having the highest customer satisfaction and \"qualified\" technicians on call 24 hours a day! Bull Hocky! I am writing this so that it might be posted and warn other consumers to stay away from Dell. Charles R K
