Ritz Camera's- Store is Camera's West In Southcenter, Seattle Washintgon

This complaint is in regards to the lack of service and standing behind product and warranty.

I purchased a Nikon (885) from Camera's West in Southcenter- Tukwila Washington which is owned by Ritz camera's. I was also sold the extended warranty at the same time with the guarantee that if my camera failed to operate, they would take care of it and make good on it.

The camera has had a major design fault with it. I took it back and they sent it in to the repair shop. 6 weeks later I finally got my camera back. About 6 months later, the same problem occured. I took it back, again... 8 weeks later I finally got the camera back.

On the first photo I took after getting the camera back, the camera again locked down with system error. I now had not had the camera for months on end. I again took it back and demanded a replacement under their lemon law. They still have not responded to me and it has again been weeks in even letting me know what they intend on doing.

So... bottom line, these extended policy's are not worth anything. I have been without this camera which I use for work for so many weeks. When I call to the store, I am treated kindly but informed that there is nothing they can do because it is a corporate issue and also it is Nikon's fault. I still do not have the camera, still have no answer, and am urging others in dealing with both Camera's West as well as Ritz camera's.... think twice before purchasing anything here.

Why would anyone want to go through this grief when there are other great stores around that have power to take care of the customer's issues there in the store? I have learned alot about these extended warranty's as well. The consumer better forget what the salesman says and read every fine print word of that contract before purchasing it. If you don't have time to read it there on the spot and analyize it... it will be more trouble than it is worth in the long run.

We had the same thing happen to us with this particular store. We purchased a Nikon digital camera with the Extended Service Warranty. This also included a 'how to' class. When I went in to ask a few questions they guy told me to take some photos and ask him what happened in each photo. Too much of a hassle. I know how to use the camera, I just wanted a little 'extra.'

When the camera completely stopped working and showed the 'green light of death' which is comented about all over the internet, they refused to help. They had never heard of the 'green light of death' and they said they couldn't locate our Extended Service Warranty. Our serial number didn't even show in their system. We even had an instore credit card from them. How does a company not keep track of their products when they are advertising their Extended Service Warranty.

We are going to an independant repair shop in Seattle to have an estimate for repair. We will never again purchase from this store and I am telling all my friends not to shop there either.
