This is a terrible company! I had so many problems with my mortgage which should have been simple since the sellers were my in-laws. Our closing was delayed by over a month due to this company's incompetence.

They told me that it was my in-laws fault for not scheduling the appraisal and they told my in-laws that it was my fault because they couldn't reach me by phone during the day. After waiting for a month on a closing that was supposed to take a few weeks, the mortgage rep, Dwayne Carter, stopped taking my calls. He took two vacations that month and left his inadequate assistant in charge. She was in her very early twenties and knew nothing about the paperwork involved in closing a loan. She lied to me and told me that my appraisal had been flagged for review by the lender.

I contacted the lender, ABN Amro, and they said that my appraisal had never been flagged. Another example of Consumer Financial dropping the ball. The absolute worst happened after the closing. I was assured, as were my in-laws, that I would have no out-of-pocket expenses on this closing. My down payment was handled by the Ameridream program and my father-in-law agreed to pay everything else like appraisal fees, title fees, pest inspection, etc.

Six months after my closing, I get a bill forwarded to my address from Consumer Financial from the pest inspection company. I was not about to pay this bill! When I called Dwayne, he screamed that he was not paying my bill and hung up on me. I called the pest inspection company and they assured me that I was not responsible for this bill and that the bill was sent to Consumer Financial. This bill has been turned into a collection agency and Consumer Financial still has not paid the bill. This company was just horrible and incompetent.

The staff is not knowledgeable and rude! I have warned all of my friends to avoid this company. I am in my late twenties and a lot of my friends are purchasing homes at this point in our lives. I am sure that I have spared at least twenty people from possibly dealing with this company.

The only contact I ever had from Consumer Financial was a nasty letter from the owner himself, threatening me with legal action if I did not pay this bill. Funny, the pest inspection company says it's not my bill and so does the collection agency that holds the account. I think that their opinion is the one that matters.
