Big Valley timesharing at Sciota, Pennsylvania
I can't believe the misleading tactics this timesharing company has sunk to. In an effort to get people to come see a 90 minute presentation, they offer 3 days/2 nights stay at a Holiday Inn, $30.00 gas certificate, $30.00 dinner for two certificate and a $500 shopping certificate for an on-line site. When I received the postcard in the mail, of course I was skeptical. But I was sure I knew what questions to ask to avoid being duped. Was I wrong.
Even though I was sure to ask about any restrictions on the gas and dinner certificates I was told there were none. I didn't care about the $500 shopping certificate, I knew there had to be a catch there. But as long as the gas would be paid and dinner thrown in, I talked my husband into taking a ride into Pennsylvania. You never know, we might even like the place. What a shock when we pulled into the location. I was expecting something sort of new and nice.
What we found were 20 year old cabins. We realized that this would not be anything we would be interested in. After a 2-1/4 hour presentation (45 minutes over what they say) we were handed our gift packet. When we got to the car and I started looking through it, I found that in order to receive your gas and dinner certificate, you had to send in a supposedly refundable $50.00 deposit for your "free vacation". Why would you have to put a deposit on a free vacation? If you don't show, wouldn't you just lose the stay? So without the $50.00 you don't get anything! Why offer these "gifts" that supposedly have no restrictions when in reality they do.
When I called to complain about how misleading they were when I first called, I was told I should have been informed of the need to take the vacation in order to get the gas and dinner. I asked to speak to a manager and the girl said the manager was on the phone and she would have her call me back. That was 4 days ago. Today I called and spoke with Tiffany, boy was she a joy to talk to. I hung up more aggrevated then before.
Now I will send in my $50.00 refundable deposit, check into a hotel 5 miles from my home and make sure to get the free certificates. Sound crazy doesn't it! Now it's the pricipal of the matter, and I will not give them the excuse they probably count on as their loophole. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. For everyone else out there, BEWARE OF THIS FALSE OFFER!
