InPhonics is a cool rip-off
InPhonics is the company that seems to commonly contract for rebate services for cellular phone companies. Their model appears to be very simple: charge the phone companies a fee for services, then refuse to pay the rebates to consumers that legitimately file for them. All they have to do is something simple such as deny that the order number the customer submitted was valid, which is what they did in my case.
They do not tell the consumer what the order number was that the consumer submitted, they do not offer a phone number, a name, or an address to write to. They do not ask for resubmission of the order number or the rebate form. They simply send a letter denying the rebate and close the case. What an incredible business model. I wish I had thought of it.
Since I didn't think of it, but was rather duped by it, I am sending letters to AT&T Wireless, the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, and my state and federal congresspersons, alerting them to this blatantly unethical and hopefully illegal business practice. I hope that you'll do the same.
Have a nice day, PR
