Subject: name of product / service I have a similar experience with Covista long distance service. Originally I switched to KISS, Covista Communications long distance service, from AT&T. 3 cents per min versus 35 cents was a compelling enough reason to switch. My local service was still Verizon. I had KISS long distance for a few months and never got a problem. Then this spring they offered a local service as well for a flat rate $41.99 that included unlimited long distance within US-48.

First two months everything was perfect, and then the problems started. For two weeks I could not make long distance calls. It seemed like their phone lines were crossed over, so I every time I was connected to a number different from the one dialed. At the same time people, I was trying to

call to, were getting calls from complete strangers.

I went through similar experience with Customer Service including suggestions to unplug the phones for 15 min and check the phone plug into my house. They also opened a case with their Technical Support, but nobody ever called me. I tried to call Tech Support myself, but nobody ever answered its number. Meanwhile calls to local and 800 numbers were going through just fine. I was about to

switch to a different provider, but all of a sudden the long distance service started to work again.

Then a few days ago long distance stopped working once again. This time I was getting a busy signal in New Jersey but could call to California (exactly like another customer). I went through the same frustrating experience with customer service, and since yesterday it has been working well.

When it works, the quality is good and the price is very reasonable. However it is not reliable and customer support practically does not exist.
