Comlaint about ATI Customer Service and Sprint Long Distance, praise for BFG Technologies Support

Hello, I called ATI Customer service in September of 2004 because they took over 4 weeks to send me a replacement for my RMA ATI Radeon 9800 Graphics Card. I was told it would arrive shortly. I then got the replacement card, it was a dud. It would load up Windows XP with a bunch of lines across it and just was a bad part. They issued me another one that took another week to get to me. I put that card in and it was ok. In the 5 weeks it took me to get the card back, I purchased an ATI x800 which proved to be a bad card also, I exchanged it at the store and finally got a working one. I tried to play my 3D games and it was a really bad experience, things were slow and choppy. I exchanged it for an nVidia 6800 OC made by BFG Tech (it has a lifetime warranty) which I am very happy with! I now get a phone bill for an extra $47 because ATI’s customer care number is in Canada. The issue was that when I called the number, it said ATI Canada, but did not give me notice that it could be considered an International call. With a large amount of LD Plans, Canada is not considered long distance because of NAFTA and a few other agreements, this is not the case with Sprint Long distance. They charged me $47 for 31 minutes of calls. I am promptly looking for a different LD provider, I am even considering canceling my Sprint PCS accounts (I have 2 phones) due to this, I am very close to not wanting anything to do with anything Sprint related. So I am no longer an ATI customer, I don’t care what they come out with, it could be 3D Virtual Reality gaming and I will not buy from them. If they cannot at least provide a 1-800 number for customers that have a warranty repair than I don’t want anything to do with them. I have already called BFG for some support due to some minor issue with AGP Aperture Sizes, and they had a 1-800 number with 24 hours support that I was very pleased with. I am now an nVidia (particularly BFG Technologies) customer and plan to stay that way. Goodbye ATI, goodbye Sprint LD, and possibly Goodbye Sprint PCS… depending on what my girlfriend thinks about switching (we can take our numbers with us now). I am sending this to you so that you may post it in hopes that someone will see it and decide to no buy ATI or Sprint, and maybe go with BFG Technologies. It is sad that they are going to loose a customer (and this customer’s family) to $47 because they were so careless as to not notify me that it could be an international call, or that Sprint LD charges such astronomical rates to Canada while their competitors do not charge at all.
