Dell Computer - Now last evening I received a phone call from SPC (??) that is the collection agency for Dell after the collection department gets nowhere. These people are just as dense and stubborn as the people at Dell. I even got to talk to the supervisor and she's as rude as they come.

Dell Computer

After reading some of the complaints on your site, I just had to add another one for the record. My mother purchased a Dell computer in June 2003. Everything went well with the purchase and the rebates. But when my mother was hospitalized in May of this year, Dell suddenly became the Corporation of Idiots. My mother has now had both of her legs amputated and during the testing for surgery they found lung cancer (she is 78 years old). After her surgery she was sent to re-hab and is now living in a nursing home. As a courtesy to my mother I made her payments for June and July. This is where the fun

begins. After making the July payment, I called Dell to explain that my mother was applying for state Medicaid and the state would be taking her social security checks each month, so she would be unable to make payments. Since I have a Power of Attorney, they would not talk to me until they received a copy. No problem, or so I thought. Since that time I have received nothing but collection calls. I tried to explain that I would be more than happy to take over the computer if they put it in my name. I have tried to contact the finance department, but because the account is now past due, their phone system will only route my calls to the collection department. I even sent a fax and told them that if they are unable to talk to me, to send call tags and pick up their computer. The collection department is unable to forward correspondence to any other department (that makes sense, doesn't it?) Now last evening I received a phone call from SPC (??) that is the collection agency for Dell after the collection department gets nowhere. These people are just as dense and stubborn as the people at

Dell. I even got to talk to the supervisor and she's as rude as they come. She tried to tell me that because the computer is in my home and I use it that I should be paying for it. I told her if Dell's Financial Department had contacted me back in July all of this could have been resolved and the account never would have gone into default. I told her to send me three call tags and they can have the computer back. She says that the computer needed to be returned within a certain number of days after purchase. Now it seems to me that if the computer is being used as collateral for the loan, same as if you bought a car, they

would simply repossess it. So today I will contact my lawyer. Thank you for letting me vent my anger, Jo Ann C

Yes, I have had a very special relationship with Dell and its collection monkeys. Not sure which company, but they called my cell (using an "Unknown" number display) repeatedly today. I told the caller twice in clear terms that I would only discuss this matter in writing. The best part is, Dell repeatedly refused to take my payment *in full* on more than one occasion well before this!!! They "lost" my account over there in Bangalore. Love that customer service. I'll never buy another Dell product as long as I live
