Dears Sir/Madam, My family has been shopping at David's Bridal for years for our wedding attire. Now it is my daughters turn to shine and so I brought her up to your Dedham Mass. location. The staff were very pleasant as usual. I purchased a dress for myself being the Mother of the bride and purchased a wedding gown for my daughter both at the same time. We also chose the bridesmaids gowns(4) of which we have not yet purchased.
When the cashier told us the wedding gown was on sale we were very excited! When we saw she charged us 50% less than the actual price we were over joyed and told her how surprised we were.
She said it must of been our lucky day as David's was having a sale! We once again mentioned we knew there was a sale but that price was amazing! She congratulated us and told us someone would call us when the dresses arrived.
A representative called us approx.2 weeks later and told my daughter she could pick up her dress . When my daughter arrived and they brought out the dress it was not the dress she ordered! In fact , she had never even tried that dress on.
The woman told my daughter they must have made a mistake in typing in the order number and they would go ahead and re-order the dress but not until my daughter paid the 50% difference which originally was represented as a sale price. Of course my daughter being young and vulnerable as a new bride to be was devastated. I met with Erin( the manager) the next evening and explained our story.
I told her that because the dress was represented as being on a "big sale" by the cashier I felt it was good business to honor the mistake which was not on our part. Erin was willing to give us $75.00 off but stated "you couldn't have really thought you were getting a dress for 50% off? "And you do acknowledge that it was a mistake".
Yes I acknowledge it was a mistake , but I think this is poor business. I offered to split the difference and that was not acceptable. I am disappointed to think that our business was not important. In summary , the dress cost $499(actual) and we were charged $249.00. In addition , we purchased a bag for $10 and a dress for $129.00. Our next purchase would have been $150.00x4 for a total of 600.00, and this does not include the accessories, vail etc.
Therefore, D/T Erin's poor business skills the Dedham store lost an approx. sale of close to if not a bit more than $1000.00 all over a $75.00 difference( remember I would have split the difference)! We received our $249.00 for the wrong dress sold to us, plus the $10.00 bag and we will not be making any of our wedding purchases at David's Bridal. Thank you for your time.
