Ryan & Reed, Inc., Houston, TX - I was contacted by Ryan & Reed, Inc. via cell phone. A man who referred to himself as “Mr. Nixon” left a message on my voicemail that I owed their agency an insanely large sum of money. When I called him back, he informed me that I had by midnight that night to submit my payment.

Houston, TX 77057 I was contacted by Ryan & Reed, Inc. via cell phone. A man who referred to himself as “Mr. Nixon” left a message on my voicemail that I owed their agency an insanely large sum of money. When I called him back, he informed me that I had by midnight that night to submit my payment. He gave me the

number to a Western Union Agency and instructed me to pay the amount in full on my credit card. If I did not comply, he told me that I would receive a summons to appear in court the following day. I called back the next day, hoping to gain more information about this debt. “Mr. Nixon” instructed me that since I refused to comply with his wishes the night before, he would “see me in court.” He refused a payment plan – or even to send proof of the debt, and hung up on me. A month later, “Mr. Knight” called my mother at her place of business. I have no idea how he got this number. When she refused to speak with him regarding this matter, he left another message on my cell phone. I called him back and was transferred to one of his associates. A “Mr. Neil” told me

the exact same speech that “Mr. Nixon” had – that I owed money by midnight that night and a summons was going to be delivered to me otherwise. Having done a moderate amount of research about fair collections and procedures, I requested that he send me proof of my debt. He asked if I had a fax number. I told him no, but that he could send that documentation to my home address. At this point in the conversation, he became agitated. He said that under no circumstances would he be mailing my documents. I was told to “get a fax number.” He told me that my “smartmouth” would be the reason I’d end up in court over this matter, and that I could use my “nasty attitude” to tell the

judge my side of the story. He hung up on me as well. So….as it stands, I have no idea if this agency is legitimate or not. Obviously, their business practices are to harass and annoy the people they come in contact with, but I’m not sure what legal actions they plan on taking.

Their receptionists answer the phone saying “Professional Offices.” I’m from California, and I’ve been contacted from Ryan & Reed reps from Florida and Texas. It all seems a little questionable, but we shall see. Megan L
