I live in Montgomery, Alabama and made a hotel reservation at Orbitz.com during the week that Hurricane Ivan was predicted to sweep the Alabama, Florida area. The hotel reservation was made in Montgomery, Alabama for family from Mobile, Alabama who were evacuating.
The morning before Ivan, I phoned the hotel, reserved through Orbitz, to confirm the hotel and was told that a reservation didn't exist. In turn, I immediately cancelled my reservation through Orbitz to avoid charges.
Three days later, my credit card statement showed a hotel charge, not for the hotel that was originally reserved on Orbitz but for a hotel in Madison, Alabama, 200 miles away from Montgomery. I immediately phoned the hotel to investigate whether or not this was a fraudulent charge or if it was, as I suspected, a result of the Orbitz.com reservation.
Needless to say, 5 calls to customer service later, I still haven't been reimbursed for my $125.88.
