Horrible Vacation. My Husband and Myself with his brother and his wife took a Mexican Cruise on the Norweigen Star on Oct 12-20 and I must tell you what horrible service, food, sell, sell , sell and rip off cruise we have ever been on. First of all we missed two of our ports due to a Hurricane developing so the they felt that it was best not to continue so our itinerary was changed. This is understandable for the safety of the guest and mother nature does not co-operate sometimes. Norwegian decided to give us our port charges back in the amount of 16.00 each. When our port charges we paid the travel agent were $159.00 each. There was never enough towels in our room or face clothes so we were calling to get them delivered to our room.

 

Our safe was broken so we called reception three times to get it fixed and each time they said wait there and we will send someone down. We would wait and finally give up because we had planned our day and could not wait anymore. Finally on the second last day the safe got fixed. There was a ruckus outside of our room one night, a fellow who was feeling all to well went berserk and started yelling though the cabin door across the hall from us, he continued kicking the door and smashing his beer bottle outside our door.

 

We called reception and it was 1/2 hour before someone came down and then the fellow they sent proceeded to knock on our door and talk to my husband. ( so much for keeping who sent the complaint confidential) For the rest of the trip we had to put up with dirty looks from our neighbors across the hall. I ordered a fruit basket for my in-laws because it was their anniversary and had it delivered to their state room.

 

The next day my sister in law said thank you and we never discussed it until we were in the LAX airport and I asked her how the wine was from the basket, she said that there was no wine and that her fruit basket consisted of a stainless steel (small) fruit bowl with saran wrap over it. That is not what we ordered for them. We ordered a fruit basket with white wine in a basket which looked very nice for $30.00. I phoned to complain and I was told to fax or mail my complaint.

 

I faxed and I emailed my complaint and never heard anything back. I called today and asked to speak to customer service ( the same number I called for the first complaint) and I was told they do not have a customer service. I was finally put through to Fabain from customer Relations and he said the same thing write a letter and we will review it and to from there. I told him what I thought of his cruise line and that I will not have very good things to tell people of his cruise line. The band they had on the cruise was brutal, we were never on the deck because we could not stand to here them. $15.00 for one bingo card. That is terrible. Especially for the Seniors that were on the cruise.

 

The first day of the cruise when we put our life jackets on we went into a dining area not at a meeting place where the lifeboats where. That did not make me feel safe at all. I don't think there was anyone that stood out in the staff area that I will remember from the trip. I will try to forget the big mouth that was yelling at the top of her lungs at the time of embankment, telling people which line up they should go into. The layout of the ship was laid out so we either had to go through the kids area to get to the gym or the main buffet area.

 

Our room smelled of toilet for the last two days of our cruise so we stayed out of the room as much as we could. There were no robes in our room they would have been handy. People please think twice before you take this cruise line, We spoke with several people and they were just as unhappy. Last March we went on the Carnival Destiny and could not stop talking about the cruise line. We had a marvelous time one that we will always think about. They completely spoiled us rotten. Thank you Carnival we will be back!

I had the same poor service on the Dawn, they are all about making money, not customer service and making people happy or giving them the ultimate cruise experience. Too many problems, too little compensation. 200.00 onboard credit for injury, ongoing room problems, issues with the excursions, misinformation and lies from their own staff to make money at your risk and more. Why bother. There are many others who WANT to make you happy and your experience enjoyable, not NCL. NEVER again after handling of the last cruise and all the problems.

I have just returned 16/56/2009 from Norweigan Jewel. The ship was nice BUT what money grabbers-money money money!! Trips/drinks /service far too expensive! Many restaurants had to pay extra for use of. The entertainments team were not interested in Solo travellers. There was no male host dancers for single women so just had to sit there and watch-bad!!!! No table in the dining room for solo eaters to go to IF they wanted to join up for a meal. Not enough speakers for the day time-but the theatre very good!!! The placesd we went to were great BUt I would rather go with a line that wasnt such money grabbers

We just returned from cruising on the NCL Dawn, It was almost verbatim the same AWFUL experience that you had. There some additional comments I could make.


The Food was poor, but edible except for the blue lagoon where both of us got sick, as well as other passengers we talked to. Our safe only took 7 hours to get fixed, and ruined one day.


The staff was completely unprofessional and did not have any concern as to the needs of the passengers.


I witnessed two cruise staff members laughing at a disabled man as he cam out of the pool.


The tour we went on almost left without us we had to run after the bus, and then it broke down leaving us sit in the 90 plus degree temperature for over 30 mins before they even called for a replacement.


The tenders air conditioner was broken and we sat and idled for 20 Mins with carbon monoxide coming in and making everyone feel sick.


The line to take the tender to shore went from the 4th deck up to the 5th deck and all the way to the back of the ship, it took 2 hours for us to get on a tender.


We had a better meal at a chain restaurant on shore then at any of the restaurants on the ship.


They ran out of food on the 4th day of 7 and started to replace items with substitutes like buying wishbone salad dressing bottles and putting them out. The deserts where horrible.


We will never cruise on NCL again!


The WORST Customer Service I have ever seen, period!


Unless you are buying something like say BOTOX (who buys BOTOX on a ship???????) they had no interest in talking to you.

We cruised the Star on March 31st and this was by FAR the WORST WORST WORST cruise we have ever been on (7 cruises so far). I will NEVER cruise with Norwegian again. I have an entire sheet of paper filled with complaints about this cruise (which they don't let you put in on their web-based survey) and I figure they will never be followed up on anyway! Back to Carnival and Royal Caribbean!!!

My husband and mother and I had the opposite experience! Other than the fruit basket which was no what was ordered and the other items my husband ordered for me and my mother the cruise was delightful! We have recommended this cruise line to many family members and friends and intend to book another cruise on the same cruiseline!!! I'm sorry for this bad experience. I wish you could have had the same expeerience we had!
