I'm an extremely unhappy MBNA customer. I was just hung up on by their customer service, after being lied to and yelled at.
I've been making online payments to my MBNA Platinum card for over 2 years now. I've always initiated the payment a few days prior to it being due. Their "Contact Us" page on their website states: "Payments scheduled prior to 1 p.m. (EST) will post the next business day." After receiving 2 late fees, I decided to make time in my schedule to contact them.
After the lengthy hold (typical) I spoke with the first person who stated it doesn't matter what their website says, it matters what date you're given as the post date when you actually go to make a payment.
I asked how you'd know this unless you actually went to make an online payment, and I'm basing I have enough time on the fact that their website says I have enough time. The person said she'd have to put me on hold and she'd get someone to assist me. After being on hold for 27 minutes! another person with the same title picked up the phone.
After going through the same scenario with him, he admitted that when he first said he was her supervisor, that he in fact wasn't and there was nothing "he" could do either. He also said it showed explicitly that I made the payment after 1pm EST. I commented that the previous person with the same access as him contradicted him by saying there were no times, only dates provided. He then admitted he was lying "again", and said there was nothing he could do.
I asked to hold for his supervisor and unless he hangs up on me, I'd continue to hold. He hung up on me. I'm furious at the level of customer service provided by MBNA. Regardless of squabbling over the exact date/time, seeing a payment posted to an account the day after it's due, to an account with a proven track record of on-time payments should qualify a credit in the good book of customer service.
