Subject: Castle the Window People "Bait and Switch"
Concerning: Monroeville, PA Castle the window people We recently purchased 4 sliding windows, 4, double hung windows, 2 sliding french doors and entry door system. Total Cost: 15,000
The installer cracked the glass installing one sliding window, but prior to installation they removed all casement windows and did'nt take into account the large opening. Causing stress on the pourly constructed sliding windows.
The installers installed one sliding french door backwards, tore it out, cracked and malled the vinyl casing and re-installed it covering up the damage with aluminum metal and chauking.
The Entry Door System cost $5000. At time of purchase customer ordered full decorative glass sidelights. The salesman did'nt write the order number corresponding to what the custom picked out and highlighted with yellow marker in the magazine. Once the door system was installed, the customer pointed out that castle did'nt give her what she had ordered.
With the locking hardware, they gave her the cheapest door knob then came back and jury rigged the door knob to accomodate a handle set still not what she had ordered. Again she had ordered and highlighted the decorative bowman locking hardware, but yet again giving her a less expensive lock.
The free tv she was to receive for the purchase of five or more windows, she has yet to receive it.
The salesman has been to the jobsite six times, yet the window is still cracked waiting a service call supposely, the same less expensive lockset is still on the door supposely awaiting service call.
The salesman upon threatnening court action, the salesman became arrogant, rude and walked out saying take us to court. You got what you payed for.
The owner paid by visa before all the work was completed. A mistake! She did'nt get what she paid for. What she got was a product inferior to other windows and doors, rude conduct by a representative of Castle who should be fired!
I am the general contractor, I brought castle to her, I made a big mistake! The product sliding windows and french doors are pourly constructed with no strength! The Entry Door System, a cheap imitation is not worth $5000! Installers pour workmanship! And the installer even has a key he kept for purpose of returning to complete installation, which is a big sercurity risk!
Plain a simple, "Bait and Switch" is what Castle the Window People did to my customer....
The customer has asked me to give Castle one last chance. To day is November 4, 2004. They have until the morning of November 12th before a complaint is filed in court! This week when I went to raise 2 of them, they did not stay up. I found out they went out of business in Jan 08 so what good is my lifetime warrenty. If the others do this, I am stuck with $4,000 worth of no-good windows. I plan to pursue this with BBB and TN Consumer Protection Agency. If you have any helpful info, please advise.
