I purchased a Dolphine mobile connection from Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, Delhi in Oct 04.

They were asking Rs. 2,000 as security for activation of STD and national raoaming in the connection. Also they told that if i had a landline at my home of MTNL with STD in it, I will not be depositing this security.

I asked the person that i had a telephone at my home and want the free STD and national Roaming. He asked me to show the bills of it which was not available at that time with me. So I bought the connection without STD. However I ticked the column of nationla raoming, which the MTNL person also saw. I also asked him that whether I can get the STD activated in my connection later. He repied that it is possible and i will have to submit a complaint in any of the telephone exchanges in dlehi.

Later i went to one of the telephone exchanges in delhi to submit my application. Surprisingly they told that I have to go to IDGAH telephone exchange and the facility is not available in any of the other exchanges.

I went to Idgah tel exchange with the copies of my landline. Then they todl another new thing that the phone should in the name of the same person (Actually it was in name of my father). And for STD I will have to submit the security.

Next Day I again went there with Rs. 2000 cash and came to know that it can be deposited in he form of DD only.

meantime my first bill arrived. Surprisingly, it was showing the Roaming rental in it. Please note that the roaming was still not activated in it becuase it needed Rs. 2000 as security but the bill was there.

The telex of Idgah is carrying many notices of working hours from 9 to 19 hours.

Again I went there on 18 hours with DD and came to know that although it is open upto 19 hours but the working is only upto 17 hours maximum

Next day finally i was bale to deposit the DD.

All the summary is that MTNL people are not informing the entire thing in shot and whenever you go with them they are telling you a new thing.

Now they have to compete with companies like Airtel, Hutch, Ida, Reliance and TATA. So the attitude and the working style of the MTNL people needs to be improved.

Otherwise the day is not far when only mtnl office and employees of mtnl and the people who are availing the free phone facility and few PCOs will haveing an MTNL connection
