I went with my mom and friend to Regis Hair Salon in Colonial Mall, North Myrtle Beach, SC today, November 27, 2004 for a haircut. This was my first trip to a Regis but I chose it because I thought that it was a reputable salon. I was told to return at 11:30 for an appointment with Sara. We returned at 11:33 and Sara was already washing someone else’s hair.

 

We were initially told that she was finishing up but when I questioned whether she was actually just starting someone else, another stylist told me that she didn’t know why she took someone else when I was scheduled for 11:30. We then overhead Sara telling others very loudly that she started someone else’s hair because I was late. We thought about leaving but I needed the haircut so we stayed. Sara was extremely rude to us and she began cutting my hair without shampooing it first.

 

She did not ask me whether I wanted it shampooed and I assumed that she was just cutting it before she would wash it. I have very long hair and wanted 2 &#189 to 3 inches cut. She was jerking my head when she was combing it dry and cutting it. She insulted me talking about how bad my hair was yet she didn’t offer to shampoo or condition it. I could feel the hair popping when she was stripping the comb through my dry hair. My mom tried speaking to her but she was rude back to my mom. I have long layers and she did not blend in one side at all which looks lopsided from the other. When my mom asked if my head was hurting from the jerking around, I said yes.

 

Sara asked me what I said and I said that my head was hurting but she just continued. Sara then just stopped and did not wash my hair or anything – she just told me to brush through my own hair and walked up front to the register. My mom complained to Sara when we were checking out and told Sara that we overhead her telling others that we were late. Sara lied that she never said that even though we told her that we all three heard her say that. It became a very unpleasant experience and Sara was still extremely rude.

 

The manager was standing right near us but she did nothing to intervene. Sara told us that we must not have been to a mall salon before which led us to believe that going to a Regis Hair Salon is assumed to be an experience that is not what we would expect. My friend was standing near the front counter and another stylist told her that we had the ‘mean one’ meaning Sara and that if they were the manager Sara would not be working in that Salon.

 

My friend said that she wished that we were warned about this stylist and that we would not return to any Regis Hair Salon after this experience. Once we got home I noticed on the receipt that it did say shampoo and cut but I did not get a shampoo. My father called the salon back but the manager just gave us another number to call to complain and to request a refund. I will never go to another Regis Hair Salon again.
