Consumer follow-up message - July 23, 2004 - From: //

I posted a complaint a few months ago about Elle Bridal and my Hotmail account gets close to FULL with e-mails regarding people going through the same thing. It wasn't just me. Here are a few of the e-mails (I have taken the names out for privacy). These people should NOT be in business! Hello. I just happened to come across your complaint and I am experiencing the same EXACT thing with Elle Bridal right now. I am getting married Sept 4th and no bridesmaid dresses yet. We ordered them on February 10th. My mother, my bridesmaids and I have called there numerous times and no response. We even called the designer and they called them- still no response. I am horrified!

I just found your complaint on the Internet regarding Elle Bridal -- SAME exact thing happened to me, expect with my wedding dress. I ordered it last July and it took 11 months to come in instead of the 6 that was quoted to me by Bianca (the deportee). I got a different story out of Lori regarding Bianca's citizenship status. At any rate, I hope you got your dress and that the wedding is (was?)

wonderful. I regret ever going to that shop as well!

Abbey, I just read your complaint against Elle Bridal on Complaints.com and wanted to let you know a similar situation happened with me and my sister. My sister is the bride. She purchased our bridesmaids dresses at Elle Bridal in February and was told they would be in in a few months. June rolls around - no dresses. My sister called repeatedly and got the same run around from Laurie, the owner.

There was a period of time when Laurie would not even return my sister's phone calls and she'd have to go in to get any answers from her. The whole thing came to a head yesterday when my sister and I went to Elle together to confront Laurie. My sister's wedding is in 2 weeks and we JUST got the dresses yesterday!! We are scrambling to get the alterations done.

We felt we should not be responsible for the balance due on the dresses to compensate for the late delivery and the POOR customer service we received over the past month and a half. Laurie argued with us for a solid hour in front of other customers. When I asked if we could speak privately she said no! She was extremely unprofessional with us - going so far as to say that it was "people like us that put small businesses out of business." We did end up getting the dresses, but the customer service from the owner was atrocious.

Just wanted you to know there are others out here that have had to experience Laurie's poor business skills -

I am not quite sure how she owns and runs a business!

ELLE BRIDAL

Nov 29th, 2003 purchased bridesmaid dress from Elle Bridal in Southborough,

Ma (formerly of Framingham MA) -We were told the dress would be in February of 2004. -Called 4 times in February, each time I was told that the dress would be in a few days. -March of 2004 comes around, I called the store on March 20th. I was told the dress would be in April 1st. I explained that I was traveling from San Antonio Texas to see this dress in person ( I am getting married in Boston and my bridesmaid lives there) The woman assured me that the dress would be in. -I called on March 31st to make sure that the dress was in like I was told. The owner of the store said that the person that quoted me that date had been deported back to her country and no where did it say anything about the dress being ready on the 1st of April.. the note she left said "some time in April". -My Mother has called the store a few times, she even went down there on April 16th of 2004. She waited over an hour for the owner to even come out to speak with her. She explained the dress had been shipped and that it would be there in a few days (another employee Joy also gave my mother the same info).

She also continued to argue with my mother in front of another customer. The owner is EXTREMELY rude. When I called her the last time she said "what do you want ME to do about it?" I'd like to know where my dress is PLEASE. So now it is May 2nd. My mother called again yesterday and another employee told my mother that the dress would be in on Tuesday when my mother comes to pick it up. My mother asked the new employee to check with her boss.

The owner of the store said that UPS had delivered a shipment but took it back

with them a few days ago. We know that is a lie. UPS would have come back the next day if they were told. When my mother visited the store she asked for a tracking number for the dress and the owner said that they do not use tracking numbers, they trust the manufacture.

That's a lie... UPS ALWAYS has a tracking number. I have complained to BBB and we will soon send a complaint to the attorney generals office. They are committing fraud.

They took our money, and they have not given us the dress. It is going on 6 months now. Their website says the dresses are done within 2-3 months. My wedding is coming up real quick, most likely I will have to go spend another couple hundred dollars for a new dress. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in my entire life. I want the WORLD to know how horrible of a business they are running

I had a bad experience with them also. The owner is very rude and all of her staff is also. They were late with my dress and they never called me to keep me updated, when I called them they were angry that I called and told me NOT TO WORRY (in an angry tone) AND THAT I SHOULD JUST WAIT AND IT WAS COMING AND BY THE WAY WE HAVE OTHER CUSTOMERS TO ATTEND TO WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO ANSWER ALL YOU CALLS AND QUESTIONS ABOUT EXACTLY WHERE YOUR DRESS IS. oh really?? My bridesmaid went in and was giving them a hard time, they were really rude to her, yelling (as she held her 10 month old son) and then when I called, they told me that I would have to get my dress altered somewhere else, they were too full of other brides) this was a lie, they just had me pegged as a "problem" because of my friend because after they mentioned this, I recalled at the time of my first order on the dress that the manager told one of her workers to get another bride to do her alterations out of the store becasue they did not want to deal with her anymore and did not want her in the store for further alterations. ---I should have walked out, but had just placed my own order for the dress with payment.

Plus, I know some brides can get princessish/crazy, but with Elle, every single bride will have increased stress and worry and rude people in her life.

Are they out of business yet? There Framingham site is gone, their Southboro site moved to downtown Framingham and I've never seen the storefront in Framingham. --
