Adelphia Cable Communications, West Palm Beach, FL - someone came to “disconnect” our service because there was a disconnect order that someone had placed

Adelphia Cable Communications, West Palm Beach FL. Reconnected cable in December as we have been out of the area for nearly a year. A few weeks later, someone came to “disconnect” our service because there was a disconnect order that someone had placed. Sent the tech away, but also called… and no one could identify where or when the disconnect order was placed.

Received no bill for our next month’s service until we received a “late” payment notice… contacted company to pay, but also to inform them that we had not received a bill at all.

Received one the next month, which I paid… and then nothing else (NO correspondence whatsoever) for the next 2 months… of which I was simply not aware… until one of their collection agents showed up on my doorstep to collect not only the 2 months, but a $15 fee to have him come out to my house to get the payment!

Contacted the company to inform them again that there is a problem, and was told by “supervisor Mike” “we mail them” and essentially, it is our word against yours… “you didn’t call before” (which is untrue)… and for me to “check with the Post Office,” that he “didn’t see any reason to refund the money.”

The collection guy said that this is not the first time that he has heard this… that common every day people are getting surprise visits from the collection agents and have received NO correspondence in the way of bills, over due notices…

NOTHING… and then getting hijacked @ their doors for this fee. Adelphia is currently in bankruptcy. Maybe they are raising cash this way??
