problems with overstock.com correcting their mistakes
On May 3rd I ordered a book from overstock.com. On May 5th I was informed that the booked was shipped. The wrong book then arrived on May 13th. I contacted overstock.com on May 14th inquiring about how to resolve this mistake. On May 16th Overstock.com told me I should go to their webpage and fill out an on-line form to obtain an RMA. They also indicated that I would be charged a $4.95 restocking fee. I went to the webpage and submitted the required info. I also replied to the email indicating that I should not pay the $4.95 restocking fee. Between 5/17 and 5/19 I received a total of 4 emails. All of them were form responses that did not address the issue. No RMA was issued. However, all of the emails finished with links back to their webpage on specials they were having. Finally on 5/20 an email indicating that a prepaid postage label would be emailed to me within 1-2 business days so that I could return the wrong book. On 5/21 I recieved an email indicating that the full amount would be credited to my credit card. This has not yet happened. On 5/25 I emailed overstock.com again asking about what happed with the label. THe response was that it would be another 2-4 business days. Now it is clear to me that overstock.com has no intention of either returning my money or rectifying their error. In total, I have recieved 11 emails. Everytime they are signed by someone different (Amy J., Jim H., Lara Leigh W., Reino K., Jennifer W., Jill B., Destiny K., Dan C., Chris B., Michelle E., Sam S.). I find it hard to believe that there are really that many different people. I have subsequently learned that there are a lot of complaints against overstock.com and that there is a lawsuit against them. Buy from them with caution. Mark F. W Mark W
